I was getting my daily input of the Daily Mail when I came across this article...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2141312/Is-worlds-biggest-wedding-gown-An-800lb-bride-NINE-foot-waist-measured-ahead-big-day.html

Now I know DM isn't exactly known for it's factual correctness but I did find the whole story a little shocking "Ms Eman has her own goal for the big day: not to be deterred from reaching her target weight of 1,600lbs by the time she is 41 or 42".

The whole article went on to raise a few questions in my mind...

Should she be left to get on with her life as she seems happy or is this a form of eating disorder?
Is her finace right to encourage her weight gain or is he just trying to keep her happy?
Is she setting a bad example to her kids through overeating or a good one in having body confidence?

I was wondering what everyone else's thoughts were

I read that as well, and there is no way she will get to 1600 lbs before dying. She's 800 now, and I find the people supporting her decision and being her feeders very cruel. Her own sister supports this, while happily pushing her around in a wheel chair.

I'm getting a bit tired of talking about her, frankly. If you disapprove of her choice then stop giving her the attention she's looking for.

Ahh sorry if this is a repeat conversation, I'd never heard of her before and was just curious!

I have no idea why someone would want to reach that goal. I am baffled. I think we need to get her on supersize vs superskinny!!

I have two strikes already. I probably shouldn't comment on this, so I can keep myself unbanned.

This is the first time I've read the article. A couple of quotes from the article itself:

"The day of her appointment with the seamstress, Ms Eman and her sister Cassie made a pit stop for snacks and arrived at Ms Goff's with a spread of three guacamole bacon cheeseburgers, two orders of chili cheese fries, nine tacos, a chocolate shake and a large Coke."

"While details of the catering menu for the big event is not known, the couple insist that despite the gargantuan quantity of food consumed by Ms Eman, she likes to eat healthily."

Holy Cow!! That's a pit stop?? And...to continue on with a statement that she likes to eat healthily? Explain to me then what non-healthy eating is. My goodness!

I'm just completely dumb-founded at this woman's goal!

Don't worry, I haven't heard of her. Thank you for posting, it's an interesting article. Why would someone want to do that to their body!? Eeek!

I don't think this woman fully understands the consequences of her goal. Near the end, if she even gets to be 1000 lbs, her organs will fail, and her lungs will be crushed by her own weight. In essence she's going to kill herself. So to answer your question, my opinion would be that this is a very bad idea. She's not setting a good example for her children, as she's basically promoting suicide. I think you're correct and it might be some kind of eating disorder. I hope the best for her and her fiance, but if she's already 800 lbs, she might not make it to her wedding day. And then all that would mean nothing, since her family has lost her. I will pray for her to understand the full consequences of her actions before it's too late.

Still confident enough to wear a bikini? I just got down to 129 and I still don't feel bikini worthy.. ughh.. I was sad reading this. It made my skin hurt. It looked painful to have all that skin sagging around the knee. While it is nice to have a supportive fiance, I would compare it to a person who really wanted to sky dive but wanted to try it without a para-shoot and the significant other thought it was a great idea... hmm what are his motives to think this is the best thing for his soon to be bride.

This reminds me of a lady I saw on tv. She would go into Wendy's order a ton of food and sit down and eat, and then immediately go the drive thru and get more food.

The lady on tv, however, wasn't happy with herself for doing things like this.
