Have you tried Shakeology?

Options
I'm looking for a meal replacement shake to drink on my lunch hour. I go to the gym so there isn't any time to sit down and eat. My husband and I have been doing some research on Shakeology and he knows a Beach Body coach that we can order from. I just want to make sure we won't be wasting our money. I've heard good and bad about the product. Have you tried it? What did you think?

I feel that the product is low on protein only 15grams and high on carbs 16 grams. You can find something that tastes better with more protein. If you wan the veggies and fruit's that is added, look into supergreens.

It isn't about protein and carbs... it is about the nutrients you get from it. Shakeology is the most nutrient dense whole foods meal replacement you can get. I have been drinking it for a year and a half... definitely recommend it. It gives me tons of natural energy (no stimulants) and really helps with cravings. Those are my 2 biggest positive effects for me... for many others it has helped them lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol, helped make them "regular" and lose tons of weight. Fantastic product. It also tastes great! I like the Chocolate flavor the best.

I've been drinking it for over a year and it drastically improved my digestion. I had pretty sever pains for years before I started drinking it. besides, they have a 30 day money back gaurantee so if you already have a coach to order it from, you mine as well. Besides, most coaches have samples of it too.

    It's overpriced garbage.

Not enough protein. And the cost per serving is outrageous.

Get whey protein, and a quality multivitamin.

Personally I love it and drink it everyday! I know there are a lot of "haters" of it out there but I'm not one of them!

I second this. I feel like you can make your own versions for cheaper and have more definition to what you are focusing on. If you need a super simply fix and don't want to look into your own design, then go for it. But I am not forking out $120/mo for 1 meal/day personally. I will eventually try it for a month just to see if it makes a difference from my eating stuff and using protein shake+green shake I will make on my own for like half the cost...

(I have no issues the shakes claim to fix. I don't have issues digesting since I started eating healthier and am heading towards Primal/Paleo which takes care of those issues by itself. Basically Primal/Paleo eating is going to give me the same effects while also providing tons of food all day. I am also pumped full of energy all day long. The only lacking was my nutrients, but I have a greens smoothie I will get in place this weekend.)

I would first evaluate your needs for a meal replacement.

One option would simply be to not eat anything during that time, and save more calories for later. It might be difficult at first but after a short time you'll likely adjust and not be hungry during that time (hunger signaling hormones will adjust somewhat). The benefit would be that you'll have more calories to consume either earlier or later.

The other suggestion would be to just get a tub of whey (I find Optimum Nutrition to be a reasonable price and good macros) and take a multi.

I've tried it. I actually loved the flavor and the concept but didn't enjoy the gastric distress it caused me.

I used it for a month and couldn't justify the cost versus the benefits. I didn't see the same results others did in terms of a reduction in cravings or surge in energy.

I'm currently using GNC AMP Whey Protein in Cookies and Cream with unsweetened almond milk for my breakfast shake. I like the flavor and consistency.

For those of you that keep saying get whey protein and a multi-vitamin... THAT IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR SHAKEOLOGY! Here is a list of ingredients in Shakeology... you don't get this with whey protein and a multi-vitamin... You can't come close to adding this much nutrition in a shake.

Please take note that most of the people saying how amazing it is also sell it and are openly promoting it in their tickers/display pictures. It's just one of those products out there that is NOTHING special, but is marketed to seem as such.

As others stated, you would be much better off taking a different route. It's VERY over priced and it truly is not an exceptional product. You could get WAY better for WAY cheaper elsewhere. :drinker:

Not to mention every single seller I've met is so pushy with the product it is uncomfortable to be around. Is there brainwashing involved?

I love the Amazing grass stuff, they have a meal replacement shake although I just use the greens drink.

Shakeology is a bit expensive and there are other alternatives such as Vega (also pricey but slightly cheaper), Ultimate Meal (honestly, this is for the brave as the taste is 'acquired') and the Amazing grass meal replacement (I use their chocolate and its good).

I personally don't think Whey is a good thing so I wouldn't recommend any meal replacement/protein shake that has it in it.
