How do you get yourself to drink more water?

One of the things that works well for me are those new insulated cups with built-in straws that you can buy just about anywhere nowadays (about 16 oz.). They have a lid so I can take it with me everywhere I go and a straw seems to help me drink faster. I keep it at my desk and try to drink the whole thing (plus my morning green tea) before lunch, then another one before I leave work. Drinking just two of those while at work and I'm already at 4 glasses of water. Plus, technically, 'they' say we can include tea/coffee, but I'd rather not. So, two more once I get home and I'm 8 glasses of water.

Sometimes, bubbly water with lemon or lime helps too for flavor and soda replacement purposes. But for me to be able to drink faster/more, the straw really seems to help.

You?

I have alarms on my phone, I work as a graphic designer and sitting at a desk I can lose track of time & get dehydrated quickly. So I set alarms to buzz off on my phone every hour to make sure I'm drinking enough water. An 8 hour day = 8 alarms = 8 glasses of water a day (even though my container is 16 oz., so technically I'm drinking double what is suggested :)).

I drink 8-16oz of water before each of my main meals. It helps me not eat as much and chips away at the daily requirement. And, when I exercise, I always have a bottle w/ me.

What's this "Moar exercise" that you speak of?

    I hate drinking water lol.

I have no trouble drinking water when working out, but throughout the day it's much tougher.

The good news? I don't drink soda any more!

I know water is important, so I'm shooting for a half gallon a day and hope to work up to 1 gallon.

Currently, I am putting lemon in my water.

I work out for 2 hours. By the time I've finished I've drank 6-8 cups of water out of pure necessity.

Try getting a bigger water container. Mine is a gallon jug. I try to empty it twice a day at least
  • I have a 27 oz jug that I refill 3 times a day. It gives me a total of 10 things of water. Plus whatever else I may drink which I find is very little because I am not thirst when I drink enough water.

I have a 32oz insulated jug at my desk with a snap-on lid with a straw. I fill it up with ice water in the morning and try to finish it by lunch. I walk for 45 minutes, then eat, then fill it up again and try to finish it again before I leave. I make a lot of trips to the can but I've gotten in my 8 cups and anything after that is extra! Water with every meal for me.

I carry my camelbac 24oz water bottle everywhere, it has a straw, which strangely seems to equal more water. I commute 45 minutes to and from work, I now carry two bottles with me. I get bored and find myself drinking more on my drive. I Sometimes water just doesn't sound good so I'll add Mio to it, problem solved. Water with all my meals.

I tell myself, for every cup I drink, is a promised blowie from my wife....seems legit.

In all seriousness, the bigger the cup that I use, the less daunting it feels. I can easily down 32 ounces of water at a time, but doing it 8 ounces at a time I lose interest.

i have a half-gallon jug in my fridge. i find it's easier to drink a certain amount if i have a visual of how much i'm actually drinking -- oh, i'm halfway through, etc., let me just drink another 16 oz and finish that up -- rather than just chugging away at an infinite amount of tap water. it gives me a goal to work toward too, emptying that jug every day, and that helps? idk it's a mental exercise sometimes.

I have a Pur 18 cup water dispenser in my refrigerator. I refill it to the top every night and try to make sure i have used at least 3/4 of it by bedtime the next day. This usually isn't a problem, since I rarely drink anything but water.

I'm really bad at just not drinking at all.. So when I smarten up and decide its time to be healthy again, I do half my weight in ounces, which I round up instead of down.. So 220/2=110oz.. 33 oz in a liter so I go up to 4 litres... I keep empty 500ml bottles around and have a water cooler. I basically fill in every time I get up, and find it easy to down the 500ml in just acouple minutes when it's so cold and refreshing... Afew days of my 4 litres an i find I NEED it, so it's not work anymore, and the constant peeing slows down. I'm down my 4 litres by 6pm and often crave more than ut try to be slower as too much can water log you too... I always lose fast and feel better when I do it, but have this tendency to stop when life gets crazy, so that's my mission this time.. Not to stop, as that's when I regain.

I have one of those insulated sippy cups. I fill it with room temp water and those mio flavors. Walmart has a storebrand that is cheaper too.

I have a cute insulated straw cup that I keep at my desk all day. I like to fill it with ice water, so I have to refill it more frequently, but that's okay, it gives me an excuse to get up and walk down the hall.

I used to find myself craving sweet drinks and needing to add things to it, but now.. I only seem to want water... just plain ice water.
