For me the thing that works best to lose weight is to exercise but also to start replacing one meal with a Special K protein bar, eat a healthy breakfast and always try to incorporate salads in that 2nd meal. I just started back and already am seeing results. My big thing is exercise, I walk at least one mile, bike, and swim when I can mostly 5-7 days a week. Believe me it does not always work to lose any weight unless I eat less. THe bottom line is decrease my snacks or keep snacks low calorie and low carb.

What's working for me is getting a control on binge eating, and exercise. Cardio allows me to eat more on days I feel I need to. The things I've learned here at MFP have been the biggest factor in my success this time around. Knowing that I don't have to starve myself AND exercise to burn off even more calories was a big turning point for me. I still have the urge to overeat, but I know if I do, I either have to burn it off, or accept the reduction in my 1000 calorie per day deficit. I feel more empowered with knowing that if I want to eat it, I have to earn it first through exercise, or burn it off after I eat it.0

What worked for me was to eat a large breakfast, especially since I work out in the morning. Then progressively eating less each meal. I also try to leave some calories at the end of the day for a dessert because it makes me less likely to eat treat's during the day. It gives me something to look forward to before I go to bed.

for me it has been eating in moderation but not depriving me of anything. Exercise is probably the biggest thing for me though, since I have a desk job and work long hours. All it all though it i comes down to good food and exercise, and expending more energy than you consume... Wish i had found this site 10 years ago!0

Frequent small meals (eating BEFORE hunger hits) and plenty of water.0

What's working for me is going back on the Weight Watchers program and not eating my activity points. Before everyone jumps on me for that , I tried going by counting calories (and not going by WW points) and eating back my exercise calories, and I tried that for most of the summer, but I was at a plateau all summer.
Oh, and being super diligent about not eating late at night is working too.0 -
I've been walking home from school (4.6km) 4 days a week and both to and from school 1 day a week (9.2 km) I burn 500 cals per way. Its awesome!0

I have been making sure that I eat within an hour of waking up and trying to drink water for all of my meals, taking a mulit-vitamin, keeping my log of my food...some days I eat breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner and then I don't eat anything after 9pm...It really isn't that hard once I got use to it. I usually keep a bottle of water right next to my bed and usually carry one with me everywhere I go....
I think that making sure that I keep active and try to get 7 hours of sleep..even though that is very hard for me to do that.0 -
Thanks. I am still gaining but I noticed that counting the calories I am eating way too many calories each day. I wish I could behave I guess I need to drink more water with each meal and stop bringing home the junk for the kids because I end up eating it. It really comes down to caloires in for me since I know I work out plenty but as I get older these workouts daily are getting harder to keep up. I bought a rebounder trampoline and that seems to help me when I don't feel like walking on the treadmill anymore or just a nice way to watch TV in the evening.0

Hey if weight watches works for you then thats great. I think the meetings can be positive and help keep you motivated. Good luck and thanks for the advice. I still need to watch my calories since I somehow keep gaining. I think I must be going through something right now since losing weight is just getting so hard0
