Any clues? I'm trying to stay away from regular white sandwich bread and am wondering what the healthiest bread for weight loss is......are tortillas really worth their weight in fat?

I buy Joseph's Tortillas... they're very big and only 70 calories. They have ground flax seed in them too which is very good for you.

For bread, I use Country Kitchen light wheat- 35 calories a slice.

    Hope that helps! :flowerforyou:

I really like Sarah Lee's 45 calorie bread. I eat the 100% Honey Wheat or just the Whole Wheat. It's really good. And not a lot of calories. :)

I use Nature's Own Double Fiber Wheat Bread (50 cals and 5g fiber per slice), and I use La Tortilla Factory white wheat tortillas (100 calories and 7g of fiber for a large burrito size). I have found that a lot of lower calorie bread is lower calorie because it is actually smaller and thinner than normal sandwich bread, but the kind that I get is not that at all--full size and maybe even a little bigger.

La Tortilla I found at Fresh Market, not at Wal-Mart...but if you can find them they're pretty good!
  • I personally think the sprouted grains in Ezekial Bread are the healthiest. You find it in the freezer section of your grocery store. Makes for a VERY hearty sandwich.

If you want to make a sandwich without bread you should consider Bibb Lettuce Wraps. Very clever and literally no calories.

If you want to make a wrap the two best I have found are Flat out Wraps and Tumaro's low fat, high fiber and high protein tortillas.

I wish you the best! Way to go rachelmommy1 for choosing healthy eating over worthless calories!!!:flowerforyou:
  • Anytime you're looking for bread make sure the ingredients DO NOT have enriched/unbleached flour. Even if the label says whole wheat, a lot of those have these ingredients and you might as well eat white. Look for whole wheat flour at the beginning of the ingredient list.

My favorite is Nature's Own Double Fiber Bread. A great wrap is the Flatout Light Original. Both of these have the whole wheat flour!
  • I second the Food For Life line of spouted grain and seed breads. I'm eating some Ezekiel right now!

I love the Flat outs original light only 90 calories and great for breakfast buritto's or chicken wraps.

For regular bread I like the Oroweat Double Fiber bread 70 cal a slice 1g fat, 6g fiber! Love their english muffins to 110 cal, 1g fat, 8g fiber. I'm on weight watchers so to have bread for lunch at only 1 pt is great. I even have hamburgers on the english muffins and I don't feel guilty having bread. Not a big fan of bun-less burgers

My new favorite is Oroweat Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins. They are 100 calories and 5 grams of fiber. And very tasty too!

My favorite is Monks Bread, but it's kind of local, I don't know how far it goes out from Upstate NY. Of their line, my favorite is the "20 Grain and 4 Seeds" bread.

From the Monks Bread website: ( https://monksbread.com/cart/ )

"New... 20 Grain with 4 seeds Our recipe is high in fiber, low in calories and carbs and rich in flax seed. We have chosen grains from around the world, including the ancient grains emmer, teff, quinoa, amaranth, spelt and millet. We hope you like it!"

It is soooooo good, and very filling.
