It's my birthday... and I'll eat what I want to?

Why is it I just can't kick that habit? That "oh it's this holiday" or "hey it's my birthday" so I eat what the hell I want?? It's kind of annoying but at the same time it keeps me feeling normal. I don't feel deprived because of these binge days and yet I get frustrated by the set back. Somehow I feel the benefit outweighs that minor and brief set back. So with that said, tomorrow I will enjoy every bite of my horribly planned birthday

haha, i binged all mother's day weekend and am not regreting it bc of the scales. felt good to just not worry as much though! happy early birthday girl!! love you!0

I nibbled a little more then I wanted for mothers day but today wasn't good and tomorrow will be worse! LOL0

Did enough calories on my birthday to set my diet back almost three weeks.
AA++++ Loved it, would binge again.0 -
Do it formally once a week, and stop feeling sh1tty about it. It's by attempting to deprive yourself day after day that you will slip up and then feel guilty.
And on your birthday? Anything goes.0 -
It's an excuse. If it wasn't your birthday (or other holiday), you would probably find another reason "because I want to...". At least with the perceived "holiday" excuse, it doesn't come just any old day. If you got to make up your own as you went, they would probably become more and more frequent!
Edit: It seems like whenever I "go off" it doesn't just last one day. I don't really binge, but it seems like every day I will eat just enough to where I ruin the progress for the day. That really irks me.0 -
It is 6 of one - half dozen of the other -- there is the whole "specialness" that makes you have a mindset of rewarding yourself -- and then there is the result of "rewarding" yourself. If you reward yourself with something other than food you feel let down... when you are done rewarding yourself with food you feel let down.
I say, one day won't kill you - if you try to make better choices on those days, good for you... if you don't, get right back to it the next day and don't fret.
My birthday is Sunday and I will be trying to make a better choice but I won't worry if I don't.
Happy Birthday!0 -
Its my birthday to day and I did eat what I wanted to! - way too much junk and now I am sitting here with a tummy ache and feeling yucky.:frown:

I have been pretty regular with binges myself now that I'm so close to my goal I seem to have lost some of that full force stamina that kept me from straying.0 -

I always get a "food hangover" after too however just like an alcohol hangover don't stop me from drinking again, neither will the food hangover LOL
**note: I'm a mom to a toddler, I drink all of handful of times a year LOL0 -
It's not a setback - it's what we're supposed to do. If everyone ate reasonably most of the time, and only indulged on truly special occasions, we wouldn't have the obesity epidemic we're seeing in the U.S. The problem is, we over indulge on the wrong things. Can't do the sugar and fat I used to. But, I can indulge in a good steak and homemade rolls...0

Same, I hate it when it happens. Mine usually last a week-5 days at least.0 -
Well it's important to remember that these days aren't random and you can do some planning on your part to still enjoy foods you otherwise would stay away from and eat them in proper portions. People often are misguided that they're only blowing that one day, when in reality they've lost weeks worth of hard work depending on how far they let that day slip.0

I have nothing against occasional splurges, but you may need to find a different way to celebrate than overindulging with food for the long term. Maybe something luxurious and healthy? Like a massage or a spa day or a shopping trip (which I consider healthy). Years ago when I first started running, I made a goal on my birthday that on my next birthday I would run my first half marathon- and I did! That was my most special birthday to date! :drinker:
Happy Birthday!0 -
Thanks for giving me the OK to eat what I want tomorrow....it's my birthday too.(;0
