low cal (but not diet) snacks

What do you snack on that is low cal but doesn't have diet-additives?

Replies

  • Trail mixes, pistachios, Greek yogurt, granola, fruits, frozen yogurt, and celery and humus.

    Raspberries/blueberries/strawberries
    Baby Carrots

Those are my staples! Great to munch on throughout the day

    carrot sticks
    air popped popcorn
babybel cheese (only one at a time - trust me if I could I'd eat 3 or 4)
apples with peanut butter (I use light PB)
almonds (1/4 cup at a time - it's NOT low fat or low cal but fills you up)
detour protein bars (170-190 cals each)

For a sweet pick me up without a lot of calories I have some chocolate covered acai berries (90 calories for 12 pieces) or a weight watchers granola bite (I think it's 50 calories) and it's like a dessert, not super low calorie, but curbs my super sweets cravings.

I love natural/no-salt almonds (good brain food/give you energy), I'll pack baby carrots in a snack bag and take 1 tablespoon of natural peanut butter in a container as a snack combo, hummus and celery is great, the "original" no sugar rice cakes are great to spread peanut butter or hummus on, I also love chedder cheese sticks with nuts. You have to also consider how many carbs your snacks are so don't just focus on calories for example (yogurts are low cal but alot of them have 25-33+ carbs so look for the light yogurts). Hope this helps!

Here are some ideas. I use Weight Watchers as well. So I will be adding point values

Snack Pack Almonds (3) and Pistachios (4)
Berries, Peaches, Watermelon, apples, pears, bananas, oranges, clementines (0)
Salad in a Jar! (2) - look for it on pinterest.com
Hunts and Jello Fat Free Pudding cups (2)
    Beef Jerky (2)
Wasa Crackers (1) with Laughing Cow Cheese (1) or 1 tbsp Peanut Butter (3)
Lay's Classic Lite Chips (in the blue bag) (2)
    Popcorn (3)

Sometimes, we get hungry because we are dehydrated. So I drink tap water with lemon or lime slices. I'm considering cucumber slices. (I 'm trying not to use bottled water for environmental purposes)

When all of these things fail or I don't feel like eating these things, I will drink coffee with fat free milk/half and half (0) or some hot tea.

It's from a website - graze.com. You can order snacks (nuts and seeds, dried fruit, breads, dips etc) in handy, ready-made potrions and have them delivered when you like (weeky, fortnightly...). Not sure if this classes as advertising so I best be careful- check out their website, there's a lot of nice things there:smile:
  • I go for:
    *apples sliced
*berries: strawberries, black berries, blueberries, rasberries
    *celery with low cal pb
    *kiwi
*pineapple (i buy it precut from the store)
*cottage cheese (they make some that are actually healthy)
*string cheese (again go for the healthy kind)
*Zucchini with a little bit of parmesan cheese, stick them in the microwave for to make them soft, and enjoy
    *bell peppers
    *steamed broccoli

hopefully you can find something you like!
  • I also forgot sugar free jello!
