Girls - can anyone recommend a really good foundation please?! i have super oily skin and fed up of stuff sliding off my face!! i have light olive skin so need something with a golden/olive undertone. thaaaaaaaanks!!! :)

Tried loads but they never seem to last. I don't want that heavy look but want it to even out my skintone and not slide off also!

Also any powders to set that you would recommend?

Getting ready for my makeover once i get to my goal weight ;) xxx

I love Bare Minerals! Great coverage, and it doesn't look like you are wearing make up!

Try going au natural. If you have oily skin, your skin could probably use a rest.

My skin is also very oily, the consultant at Sephora told me I need a primer. So i used Sephora foundation primer then Sephora powder foundation and it stays until i take it off =]

I love the Laura Mercier products. Kinda pricey but worth it! They sell it at Sephora.

Bare Minerals is the best! I have very oily skin as well and I use all of their products. They also have a Primer to use before you put on foundation and the mineral veil to set everything.
  • If you go to MAC or Sephora they will give you a make over as long as you purchase $50 worth of products.

They are always able to recomend great products specific to your needs

MAC has a mineral make-up that's great for your skin type!!! Being made-up is always feminine, sexy and fun!!! Great way to add to your make-over...

Mineral makeup is great, but using a good quality primer that works for your skin and foundation that goes with it will do the trick. As well, there are myriads of brushes to apply foundation, find the one that gives the look you want. Best to go to a makeup shop, Sephora, MAC, etc and get them to help

I know is expensive, but after trying every other brand, the only foundation that will stay looking good all day in my oily skin is MAC Studio Fix. It's a life safer for me, looks natural and I don't even need to use much powder (if any at all).

Do you use a primer? Should completely negate the oily skin / sliding off problem, especially if you use one formulated for oily skin (Smashbox is good - particularly the light version - and also oil free, Mac also have a decent range).

Foundation - I have three different 'go to' foundations, depending on what sort of skin day I'm having. Clinique Even Better (medium coverage, lasts well, can oxidise slightly so best to go a tiny bit lighter), Clinique Super Moisture (very light coverage, dewy finish, bordering on tinted moisturiser), Clinique Super Balanced (light to medium coverage, good all-rounder, can flake slightly towards the end of the day).

    Hope that helps!

I really like using the tinted moistorizer by Sephora. It is really light coverage and I pair it with a simple matte powder foundation when I am looking for a thicker coverage.

However, the recommendation is going to depend compeltely on 1. what your skin is like, 2. how you wear it, 3. how much time you have to dedicate to it, 4, how much money you are willing to spend.

My recommendation is going to sephora and seeing what works best for you.

86 the liquid foundation and try some light bronzer and then loose powder on top.

I don't think I've used foundation since high school...it always clogged my pores and made me feel dirty. Plus, who wants to hug a girl who leaves her mark on your shirt?!

    Good luck!

    This stuff is great!!!
  • Bare Minerals

It's great for all skin tones and types (I'm prone to oily skin). Plus, it's not as heavy as liquid or pancake foundations so it really does give you a natural looking and feeling coverage.

It's expensive, but soooooooooo worth the price!

I also have oily skin and really like Make Up Forever Matte Velvet with Hourglass Mineral Primer. I had been using Bare Minerals but I switched because I felt like it made my dry flaky skin patches/fine lines look more noticeable.

I've been using Sephora's mineral powder foundation and loveeeeee it. I've also used and love Mac's powder foundation. I would suggest either one :)

I have combo skin and I love MAC Studio Fix Fluid. They have a very wide range of colors to choose from. It is also very common to get samples before commiting. Go to the counter and ask them to color match you and ask for a sample. The best way to tell if it is a good match is in natural lighting. Go outside and see how it looks. It should match your neck.

It is considered a medium to full coverage foundation but can be sheered out too for light coverage. I suggest getting a small dense brush for application like the MAC 109 or 130 brush.

Prepping the skin is just as important. They sell an oil-control lotion that my friend swears by. I like to dust silica powder over my foundation for maximum oil control. MAC sells this too (it's called Prep and Prime loose) but you can get the ELF version for $3 at Target. It's called High Definition Powder.

As far as powder goes, I love love love MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (MSFN). It's light coverage and looks very natural and radiant on the skin. I use it to set my liquid foundation, or just on its own when I'm in a rush.

As you can tell, I'm a makeup hoor. Feel free to PM me if you need more recs. I can go on and on, but I don't want to freak anyone out lol.
  • I have oily skin too and the MAC mineral foundation is great for a matte look. Just make sure you spray your face with an oil control spray after you put it on. I use the Urban Decay one :)

Another thing that I like is the Chantecaille SPF 15 tinted moisturizer. That works like a dream and is great when you're in a hurry :)

Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour or Revlon Colorstay are the only two that won't budge on my face, as far as drugstore foundations, and I have very oily skin. If the coverage is a little too heavy, because they are more more of a medium coverage, you can apply them with a damp sponge.

Get a primer to go under foundation. Two Faced makes a great one...and Revlon makes a good one for a lot less. It keeps everything from sliding off.

Pick a foundation that's a mousse or cream instead of liquid.

Neutrogena makes a great oil free skin clearing powder that sucks up oils and prevents/treats breakouts. Concentrate the powder and primer around the T Zone (chin, nose, forehead) where you get the most oil production.

Apply both primer and foundation with a damp sponge using a stippling motion so it stays light not a mask. And try not to go too matte.

I have worked with a great make up artist on outdoor photo shoots in the summer when everyone is hot sweaty melty and oily and these are her tips.

BEST FOUNDATION EVER- Everyday minerals. No joke. You MUST try this. Ever since I found it about 4 years back I haven't used anything else, and I am the type of person who likes to try new things and switch up my products...

I have combination skin and the same type of undertone as you. I use their Buttered Tan in Matte. But they have A TON of shades, and explanations on who it is best for. They offer FREE samples (up to 7 different shades at a time) and all you pay is like $3 for shipping, which is fast. They have different formulas depending on what coverage you want. And, there are no fillers, all 100% minerals. This stuff covers so well and lasts all day. It's just an amazing product.

Plus, on top of all that, a jar is only $13. That lasts me about 3 months, and I use it everyday. I don't need concealer or powder with it either. It's just amazing. I highly recommend this to everyone.

O, and you do NOT need a primer with this. It is long-lasting all on it's own. Bare Minerals has a filler that can cause irritation (like it did on me). This brand has no fillers. And again, the price!! Way cheaper than anything recommended so far.
