Oops, here was the post I forgot to finish yesterday....Good luck with your shopping, MM. I am so lucky that my DH does most of the cooking, and is able to do most of it off the top of his based on whatever ingredients he has in front of him. So we shop for staples, and then whatever seems fresh or good (or is needed to complement something that we need to use up soon).
So, tonight is no-guilt Mexican (because I'm going to enjoy it with moderation, instead of burying my troubles in it) and Cirque! The show is Alegria (emphasis on the 'gri'), which is currently touring. I've seen them twice before (once many many years ago in Montreal when I was in junior high, before they had as much exposure, and once in Las Vegas) and the shows are always fabulous. The most crucial time for any project for me, I realize is when it's almost finished. I tend to abandon things. I've been pondering if that's why I can't drop the last teeny little bit of fat. Self psychoanalysis is fun! (not really.)0 -
If I wake up hungry, I can usually go back to bed (I'd rather sleep than eat). If it's too strong to sleep, I try to have something calming like warm milk, cereal, or a slice of bread. I usually don't need too much to take the edge off and go back to bed.
Today - teach yoga and the rest of day off to get ready for the ride tomorrow. I went to hard yoga yesterday and lucked out - backbends -so no soreness today.
Going to try my best to get to bed early tonight, as I have to get up really early (5am) to get ready for the ride. That's just too early for sense. If I didn't have my ritual of drinking coffee and being on the computer to wake up, I could push it another hour, but alas I'd be groggy without it.
Early to bed, boogaloo.0 -
Very discouraged today. Put on a pair of teaching pants that used to fit comfortably, and now they just fit.
Looked over my reports, and there are only three days in the last thirty that I'm over 1500 net calories, and most days I'm under. If my BMR is 1564 (as I was told) then what gives? I feel like a mathematical impossibility. Very frustrated. I'm blaming the drier. I'm debating on going back to the doctor and asking him what the heck could possibly be going on. Last time he gave the the old "muscle weight gain" line, but I'd be smaller, right? Also, don't feel particularly muscle-y especially in pants-fit regions.
Have packed and planned for today, since I magically woke up at 4 am. (probably due to teaching day anxiety. . .the students have an assignment coming due and that's when they tend to get surly.)
Fuzzy math boogaloo!:flowerforyou:0 -
V, is it possible that you aren't eating enough? Maybe that sounds odd, but you are eating less than your BMR so maybe it's not enough? Aren't you still having your lady time? Don't fret if your pants don't fit right now. It could just be bloatation. :flowerforyou:
I did not overeat at the luncheon but I did have *gulp* two donuts. I don't know why. I rarely ever eat donuts. They were just sitting there and I could smell them. I really don't feel too bad about it except that I had two and not just one. Needless to say I don't have many cals left for the day.
I need to get off my rear and do something to make up for the donuts.
Hope the bike ride goes well for you tomorrow Mary and that you have good cool weather!
I'd better do something while I'm doing nothing!

OK, "bloatation" cracks me up. I'm stealing that. I'm pretty sure that it's just the drier issue, as they stretched out during the day. In the past, when I've started to really workout hard, I've had to buy bigger pants due to enormous warrior thighs and squat butt. . .that may be happening again. I really wish I could afford a full-body, serious body fat % thing. I may treat myself in a month or two when I feel a little more in control of the budget. Since I don't weigh anymore, I really need something other than measurements to deal with.0 -
Crack o' dawn - before crack o' dawn. Craziness. Any time I get up this early I think, "so when is sunrise?" In two hours, I'll be starting the ride. It's going to get warm today, so I don't think I do over 40 miles.
Getting up to go for a bike ride, boogaloo?0 -
Go Mary go!
Today: swimming, walking around at an electronics store (a geek heaven), straightening up the house, taking Alex to ride Richie again tonight, and other stuff in between.
I have not had much time to work out at all. I'm trying to be careful with my eating. I won't get much exercise in today either unfortunately.
Backstroke boogaloo!

So, yesterday night I ate too much. I may need to re-think this "don't log on Friday" thing. I think that a day off from exercise depresses me, so I'm re-thinking that, too. The day off is the hard part? How weird is that? I'm re-thinking a lot these days. . .
Yeah, MM. . .I've toyed with the idea that I'm not eating enough, but I experimented with my calories being higher, and that wasn't working, either.
So, today I have a session with my trainer, in which I'm going to talk about the whole eat or don't question (fingers crossed. . .she keeps re-scheduling on me) followed by some housecleaning (maybe). In my fantasy life, I have a live-in maid.
Mary, ride like the wind boogaloo!

Boxing is awesome! I was surprised how fast the martial arts muscle memory kicked in, and now feel like a badass with sore hands. Now I'm even more excited about the new classes at my gym.
Also, my trainer doesn't think I'm eating enough. She said (I'm paraphrasing) "you're at a healthy weight. Eat and workout and you'll get more muscles and less fat."
:ohwell:
Anyways, boxing is awesome. This little pacifist likes to hit things, I guess.0 -
I like to hit things too. Ended up with 28 miles today. I'm very dark tan now. I think I got too much sun because I got so tired this afternoon. I sorta took a nap and I'm having an extra cup of coffee now.
We did the entire ride (28 miles) in 2.5 hours - burning 1200 calories - that's fast since we have stops.
V - I would listen to your trainer.0 -

The sun takes it right out of me, too. Although, so does biking 28 miles.
I just upped my calories on my goals. My trainer is, as my grandmother would say "no bigger than a minute" and she told me she eats around 2,000 a day. I'm set just under maintenance now. I'm just so very frustrated with the "ideal" I have in my brain not being how I feel. Vanity is a sin (and a crazymaker), and I need to remember that. "What's better than having a strong body that works?" is the question I'm trying to start asking myself.0 -
Yay, Mary! Way to go. The sun definitely saps my energy sometimes, too, but I think you'd be justified in any case. At least you didn't burn.
V, I agree with eating more. I used to do karate a while back but I quit when my knee started bothering me. And now I don't remember any of the katas anymore. :ohwell:
We went wandering around a grape festival today, which was pretty fun. Only a few leaves are turning, but it's definitely starting to feel like fall. I bought a veil with coins on it for belly dancing - half the price that they sell for at the studio. So, woot! My chest muscles have been sore again, so I skipped pushups. I'll probably start up again on Monday. I was so tired last night because I woke up Friday morning at 5:30 - ugh - and then just when I got into bed I got called for work. Doh. But I did get to sleep in until 9 this morning.

I hold two black belts, and can't remember a single kata. Yet, I can remember songs I learned when I was five. Memory is an interesting thing.0 -
So didn't stay in my cals today. Overate a little at dinner tonight. Alex did great at the horse fundraiser. People "aw"-ed over him. He handled the attention like it was nothing. I guess he's used to it. He's a bit spoiled. He was the littlest guy there and they put him on a miniature horse. He looked big on that horse whereas he looks so small on the regular sized pony. I guess he'd look really small on a full size horse.
I'm tired now.
Yawn boogaloo!

After the nap yesterday, we did a little yoga. I couldn't go upside-down without feeling dizzy, but it really made me feel better to get some yoga in. We watched "The Informant" last night. I enjoyed it, but it was a little painful to watch (watching someone make bad decisions).
A new day of biking and yoga - surprised? It's going to be a little hot today, so we are just biking to the grocery store and doing yoga at some point. My teacher said we could use her studio on the weekends (I have a key), so that's awesome. The rest of the week, and especially next weekend (so far), looks great, so more bike training.
Kitty ate all most of her food yesterday; that was really good news. She didn't eat enough overnight, so we need to feed her this morning. She's slowly getting better though.

Kitty eats kibble, boogaloo!
YAAAAYYYY!!!!
(I shouted this out loud when I read that.)
Today is: eating more boogaloo, and bikram at 4. Also, I have purchased beautiful empanadas (from this lovely Argentinian lady), and red wine for dinner (with a salad) for stay-at-home-date-night. I've budgeted to drink two glasses of wine (I always say I'm only going to have one and end up having two, so I'm not going to live the lie anymore )
I went to see my life coach yesterday, and she suggested that I need a hobby. She said "a hobby is like a pacifier. . .it takes you away from everything." and all I could think of was "eating does that." (so does cooking) Yikes. I need a new hobby. She says exercise doesn't really count, because although I enjoy it, it's part of my bigger problem of "not good enough. ever." which causes my anxiety/stress. I used to have a garden, but no land for that in the city. I took up bellydance as a hobby, but then my competitive, serious nature kicked in (and my progress made my teacher kick up the pressure on me to "get serious".) I need something that I can be silly at. Also, I'm terrible at domestic pursuits such as knitting, etc. So, that's my current project, finding a project. :ohwell: I find it very interesting that I hired this woman to push me, and she spends our sessions telling me I push myself too hard. Puzzling, that.
Lightening up boogaloo!:flowerforyou:0 -
YAY! The kitty ate most of her food! That's awesome Mary!
V, I have hobbies to help me get away..in fact I try to get away too much! I cross stitch (which burns cals ), play farm town  , puzzles, etc. I hope you can find something to be silly at as you said. The therapists were talking to us (when they first started coming out) about how Autistic children need to "regroup" after something "exciting" happens. Every person on this earth has their way of regrouping. Granted it may not be pushing a car back and forth or turning a steering wheel for hours, but we all have to regroup somehow from our day. If you aren't able to regroup it shows in your attitude and body etc. Does that make sense?
Today's goals:
really don't have any
Eating is already shot for the day. I didn't eat as much as I wanted so I'm not going to blow up, but I didn't eat healthy at all. Oh well. Tomorrow is a new day. And it tastes good. I'm trying to listen to my body, and enjoy what I am eating.
I will probably work on my Russian this afternoon since I have been slacking off on it.
New words boogaloo!

That's it EXACTLY, MM. I've often wondered if I have some mild case of something. . .I have a friend with Asberger's (sp?) and I relate to him a lot. I get overstimulated very, very easily, and then feel the need to hide in the house and be quiet. I love people, but if I go to a party, I am exhausted for days afterward (the same goes with major presentations, any kind of professional schmoozing, etc.) I also HATE the mall or anyplace too crowded and too shiny. (although I love living in the big city, it tires me out. ) Then again, this could be perfectly normal (or on the "normal" continuum) and I should stop pathologizing myself.:grumble:
I was wondering if my pretend farms count as a hobby.:laugh:0 -
Hello ladies, just stopping by for a minute to say hi. New bus company is keeping me busy so i don't get on the computer very much since school started. I got on the scale and it said I had lost 2 lbs so I guess I'm moving more than I have all summer.
Mary I am glad your kitty is getting better. Mine had bad numbers the other day and has to go back in 3 weeks. His thryroid problem. I am trying a new food with him too, his tummy isn't liking what he used to eat and he has lost 2 lbs.
Hi MM, don't give up on your goals. I think house work goals are great and you see immediate results well at least the house does lol.
Vivia, I hate the mall too but for a different reason. I don't want to catch that nasty flu that is goiing around and I always have hand sanitizer in my pocket book. First year I've ever actually avoided a place because of worry over a disease. I even lysol my bus now, the kids are always sick.
Well this was short and sweet and I hope I get to come back soon. I have to start walking in earnest again as the blood pressure levels are trying to climb( no more margaritas for awhile lol) Have a great day and weekend if I don't get back here0
