Yes, I realize 'healthier alcohol' is an oxymoron, but I like to go out for happy hour once a week. going after work today and need some suggestions. i like light beer and wine but feel GUILTY drinking them after working so hard exercising and eating healthy. any suggestions on beers/cocktails/wines that have lower calories? thanks

Captain and Diet is only 60 calories.0

Bud Select 55, only 55 calories.0

Generally speaking, the light alcohols like rum and vodka are lighter in calories. The darker alcohols like whiskey and Jager are very loaded with calories.0

I rarely drink hard alcohol so I just stick with michelob ultra. 95 calories in a bottle, but better tasting (IMO) than most light beers.0

I think my Captain diets are more calories :drinker:0

If you know that you do Happy Hour once a week, adjust your early in the day calorie intake to allow you to drink what you like. I drink beer and wine (light beer isn't beer, it's water, so I might as well save myself the calories and drink water!), but I make sure I have enough calories beforehand to drink them. Drink what you like, life is to short.0

Go for clearer alcohols - vodka esp. (vodka cranberry or with a diet soda is good). Or one glass of red wine. Rum is high sugar content and will shoot up blood sugar - so not a great option if you're trying to do healthy eating (though admittedly yummy).0

Jack on the rocks is my go-to0

my current go to cocktail is whiskey with soda water and lime. it's about 60 calories.0

There's a "diet" wine out there from Chateau Thomas. It comes in red, white and blush, named "Skinny Red, Skinny White, and Skinny Blush" (can't say their names are too creative). They're actually pretty good.0

Agreed on Captain and diet.. I also like Bacardi Lemon and diet.0

80 calories is the average for a shot of 'light colored' spirits - whiskey, vodka etc. It will just depend on what you mix them with.
Depending on your drinking preferences: there are 55-65 calorie beers and you could always order a wine spritzer. That is a glass of 1/3 wine of your preferred wine mixed with 2/3 sparkling water. Throw in a lemon wedge and there you go! You won't get blasted, but you have a drink in your hand and you can have 3 of them for the same calories as one!0 -
Vodka in diet sprite with a squirt of strawberry or cherry mio is good... I guess that is the same as vodka in cherry sprite lol Vodka cranberry is my go to!0

bourbon is about 69 an ounce. along with a diet drink of course. I think it depends on taste. I'm not going to drink vodka just because it has a few less cals.:drinker:0

oooo i will be keeping my eye out for these.0 -
Scotch - 78 calories and if you get GOOD Scotch, you make that little glass last a LONG time. No guilt there! just indulgence!0

Here's a few of my favorites:
vanilla flavored vodka + diet coke = vanilla coke
vodka + cranberry
Whipped flavored vodka + diet dr pepper
vodka + diet sprite
As other posters said, try to steer clear of the dark rums, baileys and other "heavier" liquors. You can mix many whiskeys, vodkas w/ diet soda or juices and make a nice low-cal alcoholic drink.
As for beer.....I stay away from the nasty low-cal beers, it's not worth it. Plus you have to drink twice as many to get a buzz. Oh hell no!
You may as well get in a good cardio so you have have a decent Newcastle, Stella, St. Paulies or whatever your beer preference may be.0 -

why have i never heard of a wine spritzer? this sounds like exactly what i need...it doesn't taste watered down though?0 -
I tried the skinny girl white wine last night and thought it was pretty good! I have also tried Molson 67 and enjoyed it too0

Jack on the rocks is my go-to
Jame-o on the rocks for me (or with a splash of soda!)... Ah. Whiskey. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.0 -
I don't eat back my exercise calories over the week so I can drink them on the weekends and still be under my weekly calorie goal .0

my new fave is vodka water with lime juice....it's really good! and since there's no carbonation it doesn't give you a bloated or burpy feeling.0

I usually go to MGD 64 (64 calories) or a vodka (diet) tonic with lime although it's hard to find diet tonic at a bar. Regular tonic has basically the same calories as a Coke.0
