Any other natural ladies in here?
Been 'natural' all my life, but went officially natural about last year.
I was doing really well, and my hair loved me for it, but I kind of slacked off. My hair started suffering again. So I'm back on it this time. Currently have some twists, and gonna attempt a twist out for tomorrow.
My hair type is 3b, strands are fine.
My goal is MBL, then WL, then BL. Hair is currently just past shoulder length.

:laugh: mine is this dumb advert with a very weird looking Julie, who's apparently lost 34lbs.
What is your natural hair colour?
And I don't advocate doing nothing with it :laugh: I have spiral curls, but if I don't detangle my hair, it just looks horrible. I still do stuff with my hair, I just don't use chemicals or employ harmful practices with my hair anymore.
You could do it hun, even if you want to colour your hair.
And thank you
You have a gorgeous body, by the way! And you are pretty0 -
This might not be the same, but I stopped dying my hair for over 6 years. Right after my wedding, I was tired of keeping up with it. Every time I got my hair cut at the salon, they would call over other stylists just to look at my "virgin" hair. I didn't even know there was such a thing. I was just lazy and too cheap to spend money on hair dye. Insert two babies into my life, and I started getting grey hair. I dyed my hair for the first time 2 months ago. I coloured it the same as my natural colour. LOL So I don't think I count as a natural anymore. LOL0

I currently bleach my hair:
But naturally my hair is a little darker, maybe a tad darker than this:

That's good. Dye is very damaging on the hair. I am so tempted to dye mine, but I'm not going to. I've dyed it twice in my life, and never want to ruin my curls like that again :sad:0 -

I used to dye my hair all the time when I was in High School. A year before I got married, I stopped so I would be natural for my wedding. I have only dyed my hair once since then (once in the past 4 years) and that was over a year ago now. I actually like my natural hair. It's a nice shade of brown with a lot of red highlights and few blonde ones thrown in there. It becomes lighter in the summer and redder in the winter. People are always surprised to find out that I don't dye my hair because it changes color with the season. I guess I have pretty unique hair?
Also it's pin straight. Doesn't matter what I do with it, it will alway be straight. For my sister's wedding, the stylist curled it and used A LOT of hairspray to hold it. It was straight again by the end of the ceremony.0 -

Haha, I have the opposite problem. It doesn't stay straight. Although I am mixed, my hair comes out pin straight and 'European' when I straighten it, but it doesn't last for long. I find washing it and letting it air dry (I don't use hairdryers) before hand makes a big difference. But any sign of moisture and it'll start to wave. It also gets REALLY greasy fast when I straighten it (not when it's curly though).0 -

I never used to do anything to my hair aside from te standard trim every few months... Oh how I long for those days!! Now I MUST get it coloured every 6weeks or so otherwise I start to look like a skunk with a vivid white stripe where my regrowth is!! I went from 'darkest brown' to silver in about 9mths about 4 years ago when life took a stressful turn... It sucks big time!!!0
-
I dyed my hair from 13-20 years old a LOT. I have been dye free since 2005 now. A lot easier to keep up with, I stopped when I got pregnant because I didn't want it to have any repercussions. I have DARK DARK brown hair that some people call black. BUT, it's not black. My hair is so thick that it looks it. :P0
-
Im too lazy to bother with hairproducts and dyes. Have done it before, once red and once black.. but it just gets annoying when it starts growing out so I stick with mine.
it amuses my little sister, because I had grey hairs in among the brown since turning 20 or so :P but its still mostly brown0 -

Thank!! U that made my day
Wellll maybe I half way quality b/c I don't use products besides shampoo conditioner...but I do straighten out these funky half curly half straight strands!!
My hair is just total dishwater blonde...if I grew it out it would probably get natural highlights! But never gave it a chance!
Have u heard of taking biotin supplements to assist with hair growth? I've heard Great things about it!!0 -
It took me a while to realize what you were talking about. This sounds like most people color treat or otherwise chemically treat their hair? I have colored my hair from time to time, but usually just highlights to camoflauge the gray or occasionally a wash out coloring product. Now that I have a lot more gray, I use henna to cover my gray and give my hair a strong red tone. The bonus is that it is good for my hair. I will probably never give in to the gray and will use the henna until I'm all gray (the gray hairs dye popsicle orange...fine as highlights, but not a good all over look).0

I've been dying my hair blond w/highlights since I was 16.. I'm 23 now and have no intention of stopping. Naturally my hair is brown, and I think it looks ugly on me... hence the dye job!
I also have really curly hair that I straighten if I have the time.. but for the most part, I wear it curly and rinse in-between washes.0 -
I have a lot of grey so should probably dye mine, but I don't at the moment. I have short hair, so short I don't even need to brush it lol0

Before I went natural;
After going natural;
The after pictures are from last year. My hair is in similar condition right now, albeit not as long or thick. But I am upping the ante and caring for it again. Trying to maintain length and gain thickness.
These are a lot of my inspirations/hair crushes;
Chimes (4a/b hair)
(I LOVE her hair. She has the same/similar hair type to mine, and it's long)
It's well worth it ladies0 -

Aww, you're welcome!
I used to take biotin. Only stopped because I kept forgetting, then just couldn't be bothered. It didn't hurt, but not sure if I noticed any difference in my hair. I was generally caring for my hair anyway, so I couldn't put it down to the biotin.0 -

I henna'd my hair before. Made it a lot stronger but weighed down my curl pattern :sad:0 -

Seeing as you have curly hair, I would advise using a sulfate free shampoo and co-washing. Also, instead of combing or brushing, detangle your hair wet, saturated in conditioner and GENTLY. Do you let it air dry?0 -
Some more gorgeous natural hair;

I was a platinum blond. The older I get the darker it gets. No grey so I am not coloring it yet!!0
-
I've never dyed, tinted, streaked or done anything to color my hair. My hair is be poker straight, and my mom permed it a few times when I was a child back in the 50's and 60's, but I hated that, so usually any curl was from sleeping in rag curls or foam rollers if we wanted it curled for special occasions. Now that the greys (err...platinum blondes) are coming in fast and furious, those are coming in curly for some reason, so on humid days my hair actually appears to get wavy as the curly ones influence the straight ones. I wear it long, almost waist length, and while most people can't tell the color change while its hanging down, if I pull the ends up to the top of my head you can see a big difference between the cut ends and the hair up top. I don't intend to color it, I plan to go gracefully grey, so as I trim off the ends every six months, the people who see me every day won't notice any difference.0

I've been natural for about a year and a half now!! it has been a struggle, but i'm learning along the way!0
-
I used to be natural...
Now I have three colours of highlights, and a hot pink streak... and my hair needs to be straightened almost every day in this hairstyle.
I can't wait for the style to grow out, though.0 -
Natural for ten years. I had locks for eight of those chopped lock and went to curly from in 2009.0

I used to dye my hair all the time. It's been every shade from light brown to black (mistake) and fire engine reds, turquoise, purple, etc. I don't dye it anymore unless I use Manic Panic which is natural and semi-permanent. I don't use heat on it either, ever. I might blow dry it once every three months but that's it. No brushes either! I get out of the shower, run my fingers or a wide-tooth comb through it, and fluff if up. This is how it looks:
Ignore my stupid mouth, I was laughing.0 -
Yup the fro is alllll me baby.0
