Yes but it will be water weight if you hold cals and protein constant0 -
No, but it may make you sick. You need good carbs in your diet. One of the frequent (but not only) recommended nutrient breakdowns is 40/30/30 (carbs, protein, fat) respectively. Your body needs carbs for quick energy conversion.
By good carbs, you're looking for whole grains, fruits and vegetables. BTW, frozen fruits and vegetables, as long as they are not processed with a bunch of stuff are as good for you, and possibly more nutrient rich, than fresh, depending on how the fresh gets to you from market. On the other hand, they really don't taste as good.0 -
Of course because it is cutting calories and any cut of calories is going to help lose weight. Problem is, cutting ALL carbs could then make you tired and sluggish and even possibly reduce the fat burning process during exercise.
It's more about what typeof carbs you eat and when you eat them. Before cutting all carbs out, just cut carbs that are white. Breads, potatoes, rice, sugar, pasta.......
Carbs like oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and brown rice to name a few are good carbs for you but again, it's the timing of consuming.
Fresh veggies are limitedless in eating! Celery burns more calories in the digesting process than any other veggie, baby spinach is great and is tasteless in protein shakes, red peppers are sweet and can help some when craving something sweet. These are just some ideas.
But I would not cut all carbs out if you are exercsing and trying to lose weight.....IMO0 -

Complex carbs like potatoes, pasta, rice (there is little difference in white and brown), oatmeal, and other starchy foods release sugar slowly (starches are complex sugars). Most athletes carbo load before going about their activity because of this controlled release without the calories from fat (9 calories vs 4 from carbs). Will eating complex carbs help you lose weight? If you eat starchy foods you will. Fruit is considered a simple sugar so you will get an energy rush quicker than eating starchy foods. Is that bad? Depends on what you do afterwards because, whether you eat protein, carbs, or fat, you still need to account for the calorie intake.0 -
Thousands of people use Adkins and many long term. They do not get sick anymore than anyone else. Diabetics restrict their carbs and are perfectly fine. Do not believe that you will get sick. That is not true and there is no medical facts to such nonsense.
Yes, you can cut out all carbs. Is that fun? Not for me.
You can restrict your cabs and only eat those from veggies and very few fruits and will it help you lose more? Likely if you still maintain a calorie deficit.
If there is a medical reason you want to cut then I would go see a dietician and they can help you figure out a good ratio.0 -
I went low carb and cut bread, pasta, rice etc, no cereals.. just piece of fruit for breakfast, small bowl of salad for lunch and vegetables with lean white meat or fish for dinner (nothing battered or breadcrumbed) it was bland but lost 7lbs in the first week, 18lbs in first month!
I slowly re-introduced them and only allowed one carb per day. (not including carbs in fruit and veg) I also suspected my problem was wheat so replaced bread with gluten free bread for toast but only allowed it once a week and once a week I allowed potatoes or rice with dinner... stuck to that a month and lost another 16lb.. weight loss slowed down then anyway so introduced another day when I allowed carb treat like cheese on toast for lunch or gluten free pizza.
It worked for me I lost 3 stone total so far still wheat free but now also have other non-wheat based cereals and GF treats (Mrs Crimbles Gluten free brownies are gorgeous!) back in my diet and can exercise for longer to burn more off.
It can work if you can stick to a stricter diet but re-introduce them slowly, not all at once.0
