Measuring salad

Since joining MFP, I've been measuring most of what I eat to get an almost accurate calorie intake everyday. However, I'm having an issue with salad.

Do you eyeball the measurements or do you go by the scale?

For example, I just happen to weigh my salad for lunch and it weighs 8oz which is an equivalent of 1cup. But I'm loooking at it and I would say 3cups.

Which one would you go by?

OZ because a cup is a unit of volume. Salad has lots of air in it, between the leaves.

The 8 oz is equal to one cup measure is a good approximation for things that are more dense.

Thanks for the info. I would agree with you. It doesn't seem right to measure green salad by a cup since as you say, it's not dense.

I asked this question at a weight watchers meeting once and the leader told me not to worry, that I wont gain weight by eating too much lettuce. It is good to be cautious about what you are eating but dont over stress.

I really doesn't matter how much salad you eat.....Fill half your plate with salad or greens...
