I beat my meat for the first time last night.....

Does anyone else do this? While I was at the grocery store I picked up a meat tenderizer....The chicken breasts I picked up last night to grill were pretty thick so i used it to beat them down thin......Definitely made it easier to cook even and I think it seemed easier to slice up for salad etc.......So who else uses a meat tenderizer and who just leaves it like it is?

Thumbs up to the title!
But yeah I use it for steak that's usually chewy like flank or palomilla. Maybe sometimes for ribeye. Will now try it on chicken though!0 -

I was really quite amazed....I didn't think it would make much of a difference but I think it did.0 -
I use it on porkchops, beat them thin so I can roll them around asparagus, etc.0

I do to flatten out chicken for chicken picatta!0

I see what you did there... lol.
But, I always beat my meat, you did more bang for you buck.0 -
Um... I don't know how to answer appropriately. I beat meat.... Dont have a tenderizer tho, lol.0

LMAO
yeah nice title!
I dont have a meat tenderizer, but now that you mention it I might get one just to be able to beat on something when I'm having a bad day0 -
I have never beat my meat. Maybe I should try it sometime.0

I put my chicken breasts in a ziploc bag, bludgeon them with my old fashioned wooden rolling pin, marinate them and the put them on the grill. If they are thick they never cook evenly on the grill.0

lol.. high five on the title! I've been beating my meat/chicken for a while now..it cooks more evenly on the grill and slices easier and wraps around asparagus nicely.0

Meat beating is illegal in my state and a punishable offense. So I stay away from it.0

Do you wrap it around and then grill it? That sounds good.0 -
Awesome title... it's a winner :flowerforyou:0

I just tried this, but I used a rolling pin to flatten the chicken breasts, and baked them, but I can see that it would be good for grilling to make sure it's done through-no one wants rare chicken:noway:0

My preferred method for beating meat are breasts. Gets the job done a lot quicker.
And that's chicken...and the job is preparing dinner.
What is wrong with you people??0 -
Props on the title...wish I was imaginative. Lol. :drinker:
Anyway, I used to beat my meat, until my beating toy got lost (or stolen) in our most recent move (and my stoneware too, as a matter of fact  ). Haven't taken the time to buy a replacement. I liked using it for CK parmesan, and thinning as well as tenderizing fajita meats.0 -
Yep. I just use my rolling pin but love beating my meat.0

I have seen several people mention a rolling pin.....I thought the triangle/grooves on the mallet helped.....are they overrated?0

LOL this brought back memories of my cousin shouting out from the kitchen, "I'm beating my meat on the counter" while tenderizing his steaks. :laugh:0

hahahahahahahahahahaha omg made my day0

I use the triangle/grooved mallet for wiener schnitzel... much more medieval.0
