Not learning to listen to your body's cues is probably how most people became overweight in the first place.

Wrong...People who are not monitoring their Calorie intake is the reason they become overweight in the first place....

I know plenty of people who only one or two meals a day....roughly lunch and dinner...and they are extremely overweight because they are waiting until they are hungry to eat....and they fill their plates up with portions so huge they could feed a small village....

If they taking the tme to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and a healthy snack they will be more inclined not to overeat....

    Have a good day

^ THIS is exactly how I got obese. I wouldn't eat all day then binge on a 1500 calorie meal then do it again later that evening. I have a problem with food binging when I don't eat during the day. Not everyone has that problem, but many of us do.

Thank you... I have a best friend who does this....and I try to talk to him....but he goes..."I am not hungry in the morning"....and he eats so much it's sick...and I love him like family...but his mom is a diabetic, and he is so much at risk....Cause he can't get a handle of how to portion control.....and I personally feel if disciplined himself to eat a breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack he would not over eat at night.

Even if your not hungry what about a protein shake to give your body some sort of fuel. I make a protein shake out of my protein powder, banana, milk, and pb. This way you don't actually feel like your eating but that your just having a drink.

    Isn't drinking still eating?

Sorry to jump on your post but i have a relating question. I often go 12 hours without eating. I eat for dinner at around 6pm and then i don't eat in the evenings and then i eat breakfast as soon as i get up but this isnt till 9am usually (i am a stay at home mum and my girls like there lie in) . Is this bad or am i ok as i eat as soon as i wake x

I frequently go 12 hours or more without eating. Dinner is usually at 6 and I don't eat till I get to work at 7:30 in the morning. If you've met your calorie requirements for the day then I don't see why it matters what window of time you get them in.

I'm not hungry in the morning either. But I have noticed a couple of things with myself. When I play sports on the weekends in the morning, I tend to play better and have more "energy" if I eat something in the morning. If I dont eat then after the game I'm starving and could easily overeat. So I would suggest you pay attention to the quality of your morning workout. Are you able to KILL IT! if you like high Intensity workouts like I do. Or do you just cruise? During the week I dont feel Its as important for me to have that morning meal because my job is seldom physically demanding., and I dont usually work out until the noon hour and after work.

Sadly, there's nothing you can do if he doesn't want to help himself. That's what it boils down to in the end. I have friends who are morbidly obese who do the same things I used to do with fasting then binging. It's a vicious cycle. It took me months just to get used to eating throughout the day. I do it now to curb the urge to binge at dinner. I'm still rarely hungry in the morning though. Not everyone has that problem though, and we all need to find things that work for us with eating schedules. Some people can fast all day and not binge.

I guess so, I was just making a suggestion. Honestly when I am drinking my water through out the day don't feel I am having mini meals, but yes a protein shake would be eating since its in liquid form.

Well, clearly your anecdotal evidence means that these circumstances apply to everyone...Remind me again where you got your PhD in physiology.

And where is yours exactly? Hunger is a hormonal response dictated by your previous eating habits, so relying on your body to tell you when to eat is not the safest way to regulate your eating.
