Can anyone give me the lowdown on this program? I've always been interested in running, but have never been a runner. Never really had the stamina. I LOVE walking, but I think I need to ramp it up a bit, but a little at a time.

So those of you who have done this program, what'd you think of it? Did it turn you into "a runner"?

If you use the search function and just type c25k, there are hundreds of posts from people about the programs. There are also groups for it, too.

You'll find success stories, information on the program, troubles people have had with it, etc.

It is a great program, you should definitely try it. :)

I don't know if I can call myself a "runner" just yet, but I can now run much further and for much longer than I could when I started and it made me love running. I really look forward to the days I get to run when before I had to force myself to work out. I've done one 5k, have signed up for two more and a triathlon, and have my eyes on a 10k in October. And I haven't even completed the program yet!

So, absolutely give it a try - it took me a few weeks to get into the groove but I'm really glad I stuck with it and would totally recommend it to anyone who's looking to get started.

I'm only on week 2 but I can tell I'm getting stronger and I can run a little bit longer each day :)

C25k is a walk/run interval program where you weekly increase the run intervals for 9 weeks, at which time you will run 5k. I completed it a few weeks ago. It's a good program. If you are already fit, the first few weeks will seem too easy, but I'd recommend sticking with them anyway. Likewise, at week 4, it kicks up the intesity quickly. If you start a week and can't keep up, just repeat the previous week and continue.

I can now run 5k even on uneven terrain, though you'll probably find the program easier if you run somewhere level until you've completed it. It's hard to find much level terrain where I live, so I started it on uneven terrain and struggled. Finally I drove to the local high school and used the track until I'd finished the program, then set my second goal as running 5k on uneven terrain, which I just did last Saturday. The entire first mile was at an incline and was tough, but I did it!

So yes, I think it's a great program. And yes, I consider myself a runner because I run.

Worked for me! I ran my first 5k on May 12th, and have already signed up to run another one in September!
