Weight fluctuation throughout the day - how much?

I know that the best time to get an accurate reading from a scale is to weigh first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom.
Since I do not keep a scale in my house, I only weigh myself at the gym and I have not been there in the morning for almost a month. Weighing myself there in the late afternoon yesterday, I was frustrated to see that I was more or less at the same weight (maybe a handful of ounces under). I should be losing half a pound per week, at least, which means I should have lost at least two pounds in the past month.
Is it wishful thinking to hope that, if I weighed myself again first thing in the morning, I'd see the scale go down those two-ish pounds? How much does your weight fluctuate throughout the day?
Should I ignore the scale for another month and stick to weighing myself in the late afternoon, which is when I'm more likely to be at the gym?

My weight can vary arywhere from 2-5 lbs during the day depending on my workout, what I ate, and how much water I have drank.
I would say just ignore it for another month and continue to weigh in in the afternoons if that is when you are most likely to be at the gym.0 -
As a lady, ToM can also cause big fluctuations throughout the month... I gain usually 5-7 lbs during the day, and an additional 2-5 during ToM.0

I consistently weight 3lbs more in the evening than I do in the mornings before I've eaten/drank anything. This is why I always weigh in the morning0

Ditto. I weigh every morning after my workout and before I eat breakfast or drink any major quantity of water.....I can have a multiple pound variance just based on the type of workout. Being consistent is the key.0 -
Interesting... so probably I have lost those 2 pounds.
Ha, I didn't want to have a scale at home so I wouldn't obsess over the numbers but clearly that has no affect on my obsessing!0
