My current breakfast of Kellogs cornflakes and semi skimmed milk is costing me minimum of 350 cal. Please advise any interesting breakfast recepies with lesser calories. I am getting bored eating cornflakes without sugar!!!
Thx

Eat something more filling, then. Eggs, oats, a protein shake... 350 cals on cornflakes and milk when you could get a decent breakfast for roughly the same calories... or a helluva lot less.

350 cals for corn flakes is a lot of corn flakes. Is your portion right? I can eat a serving of Kashi go lean crunch with a cup of soy milk for less than 300, and it has protein.

Two eggs scrambled with vege's and a tbls of real bacon bits. Around 200 calories and yummy. Add on extra egg for another 70 cals or just an extra white for 17 cals. Your a guy and you should have a bigger breakfast than even 300 calories.

I am taking 75gm cornflakes with 225-250ml semi skimmed milk and that makes 352 calories.

I think 2 eggs with spinach and other veggies should be under 250. But there will no slices of bread right? I am really surprised that even the 2 slices of brown bread is around 150 cal.

You know, it IS okay to have a breakfast over 250 calories. It's fuel to start your day, you'll benefit from a good meal for it. Some wholemeal bread with your eggs is fine! Personally I'll have protein oatmeal which clocks in at 260 calories, and an hour or two later a snack for 100-200 calories. The only reason I don't eat it all in one go is because I find it hard to eat in the morning.

Quaker old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup dry makes 1 cup of cereal, top off with 1/2 cup raspberries, 1 teas sugar and 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon = 200 calories

Breakstone's cottage cheese doubles with pineapple, nature's own whole wheat thin sliced bagel topped with laughing cow cinnamon cheese = 287 calories

Weight watchers smart ones english muffin with canadian bacon, 1 cup sliced strawberries = 264 calories

Kellogg's low fat neutra grain waffles, top with one cup sliced strawberries, with sugar free low calorie syrup = 240 calories

so many options, just check other people's food diaries.
  • Try 3 egg whites, 1 complete egg, scrambled in low fat spread with 1 to 2 slices of wholemeal bread with rye.

Comes in at around 400 cals with 2 slices of bread.

For lower cals swap the bread out for mushrooms & make a mushroom omelette.

I have found that I don't have to snack until approx 3 hrs after the above (bread option) & it has done my energy levels the world of good :-)

Before changing to eggs I was eating porridge with protien powder added & I would be hungry again within an hr or 2 at the most & then hungry all day.

    Happy eating :-)

Done it, reduced my breakfast calories intake by 90 calories!! It has worked first day; I had an egg omlete with pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes (will buy spinach next time). I just took one brown bread for now but I might replace the bread with smoothie. Total breakfast calories were 260. Thanks for the advice guys:)

Try using almond milk it has less calories than skim milk & taste great. If you miss the sugar try slicing strrawberries or sprinkling raisins on your corn flakes. Change it up by making a low cal smoothie for breakfast throw in a scoop of protein mix to keep you satisfied longer. Also instead of counting calories watch the carbs if you can do both even better. Good luck!

    1/2 cup quick-cook oatmeal with 1 tsp cinnamon = 80 calories
    1 hard boiled egg = 70 calories

Add coffee and a couple of fish oil supplements, and I eat a ~182 calorie breakfast that has me leaving the breakfast table feeling absolutely stuffed full of food, and gives me 11g of protein, 9g of fat, and 15g of carbs, with only 2 sugar. So I'm not hungry again for some time.

this morning I had one brown and serve sausage , two tater tots, quarter cup of southwestern style egg beaters, 1 wedge of laughing cow chipotle cheese, 2 slices of village hearth light italian bread ... was yummo and was 246 calories!
  • My breakfasts tend to be: 2 egg ham omelette (protein!!)
    75g porridge with sweetener
2 weetabix with a banana cup up and mixed in :-)
    Scrambled egg on toast
3 shredded wheat with summer berries (get the frozen ones they are so much cheaper!)

@Alicita72. Looking at your weight loss I should be listening to your advice I think:) I totally agree that carbs are the ones that are more important to look at. But I am thinking that as long as I am keeping my carbs within my daily goal then it is fine. My first hurdle is to control my calories and stick to that. With experience and advice from you guys I will start looking after my carbs too.

I am always in a hurry because I like to sleep so my go to's are: 1) oatmeal; or 2) over medium egg on a slice of wheat toast with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, pat of butter, and a shot of Sriracha (yuM!)

I keep the oatmeal in my desk at work for just in case I forget or run out of time to make breakfast. The egg takes less than 2 minutes during which I toast and butter the bread. Sometimes I microwave the egg in a coffee cup for 45-60 seconds which creates an egg mcMuffin to put on top of a multigrain English muffin (spray the cup with nonstick before cracking the egg, leave it alone for traditional EMM or you can slightly scramble with a dash of milk.)

I use 40 calorie per slice sara lee bread. It's delicious and doesn't take up a whole lot of my daily calories. I usualy have 2 slices of toast(80) with 3 slices of center cut bacon(70) and 3 egg whites (70). It's only 220 calories. :)
Also... I love the 90 calorie muffins that sara lee makes as well. Some days I will have a bacon egg and cheese muffin (center cut bacon, egg whtie, and kraft fat free cheese... overall 165 calories) and I usually have a side of fruit with it.

I really like Oatmeal or fruit for breakfast. I use the Cinnamon flavor whole grain Weight Management oatmeal from the IGA. It has 160 cal, 7g protien, and 1g sugar per pack and it is very filling! I have one pack every morning with 1/2 cup fat free yogurt (50 cal) and it keeps me full til lunch! Another thing I like to do is eat fruit for breakfast (you can pair it with any healthy option for a great, low calorie breakfast). When i dont want oatmeal, i usually have a banana (100-120 cal) with 1/2 cup fat free yogurt (50cal) and some steamed veggies (20-60 cal) (total of 210-240cal)

This morning I had a slice of sprouted wheat toast with laughing cow light french onion cheese wedge, 1 tomatoe sliced on top with 3 mint leaves and a cup of coffee with almond milk and stevia sweetner. Total calories are under 200.

    Other ideas:

-1 Egg, 1 slice of whole wheat toast, a 1 cup of strawberries and coffee (this is under 300 calories)

-2 multi grain waffles topped with fruit (berries are low in calories and very healthy), even just using 1/8 cup of syrum will still keep this under 300 calories

-Refrigerated oatmeal (eat this at least once a week)

Anyway, just some ideas to throw your way. Good Luck!
