How do your track distance?

I have a Polar F4 HRM and as far as I know there's no way to track distance on that HRM. Now I was talking to a friend at church and she has a chip that she puts in her shoe and an application on her Iphone (I have an Iphone too) that tracks the distance. I have to ask her about that but was wondering how everyone else tracks it.

I mean just going outside and walking/jogging/running. No gym membership no treadmill. :flowerforyou:

It doesn't work on the iPhone Edge, which is what I have. Nike sneakers (I think) have a chip in them. Otherwise there are sites like myrunmapper which will give you the distance if you put your route into their site. And then use your time to gauge your speed.

I use MapMyWalk.com. I draw my walks and save them so I can use them over and over. Try it and you'll see how nice it is.

I suck at walking/running/jogging and starting AGAIN to get back into the groove of things. I don't have a set distance a set location a set route or anything like that. I just kinda get out and walk :embarassed:

Example: If my husband is with me we may decide to walk to Blockbuster or another nearby store just to look around. I was looking for something that I can put on me that when I get back home will tell me how far I walked. I can always zero out my odo and drive to Blockbuster then come home and walk there LOL.

Same idea as mapmyrun.com, but you can also look at other people's routes in your area (maybe you can on mapmyrun also, I haven't used that)--helpful if you're new somewhere or tired of your regular routine.
