Soreness - how long to wait?

I've just started lifting and using some of the machines at the gym and obviously I'm experiencing a little muscle soreness
How long should you wait until you get into it again? Should I just wait a day in between or should I wait until the soreness is gone??

In my opinion, you should wait 1-2 days to let your muscles repair, but I think it's fine to work out after that even if you still have mild soreness. After a few weeks, you'll probably have a hard time getting sore anyway, but you still need to rest because that's when the magic happens! :smokin:0

As long as it's soreness and not sharp pain, I'd wait 1-2 days.0

I freak out if I'm NOT sore! Work through it. Work with it. Work for it. Avoid working the same muscle group consecutive days and you'll be fine.0
