when you know you know, and you will never regret it if it has a meaning behind it....
great idea~0 -
I have two very large tattoos and love them! One was a present to myself. Go for it!0

I plan on getting a star for every pound lost either across my shoulders or up my leg. There will be 135 total. Your idea is really cool, too0

I love tattoos. I have 9 right now and even though I love em all most of them are visable so its hard for me to cover them up at interviews (for the one on my neck I have to wear my hair down for the one on my wrist I have to wear long sleeves I have to wear pants to cover up the 4 on my legs and a tshirt to cover up the one on my chest/shoulder and back... The one I can never cover up is the one on my hand unless I wear a bandaid.. And because of them all I can never get a professional job where they do not allow visable tattoos such as drs office staff.. Just something to consider if you ever want a different job you may want to get your tattoos where they can always stay covered. =]
If I lose all this weight than I am definately going to get a tattoo that symbolizes it, I am not sure what yet but I have plenty of time to think of something!

I have a large back piece I want to finish, a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Thought it would be nice symbolism.0 -
I love love love tattoos! I like all ur ideas to remind you of where you came from what you want and how you got there! I need to think of one for my weight loss! One of my proudest achievements for sure!0

I also think this sounds like a great idea that I may wanna steal too!0 -
I think I'm going to get it on my wrist so every time I eat I will see it and think about what I'm doing!0

Ok I might have to put it on my forearm lol!!!!!!!!!!0

I'm going to get a tat after I reach my goal. I'm however going to get a blue tulip and a purple tulip. I want the blue larger than the purple one. My son is older than my daughter. Then I want a bow tying them together with their names. Tulips are my Fav. flower.
I love the star idea.0 -
i think that is a great idea =]
as far as people not liking tattoos, if you get one, you shouldn't regret it. it once had a meaning and it once was what you wanted. why regret what made you happy whether it was at one point in time or always???
i like all of yours guys ideas... i already have a tattoo of dolphins on my lower left back.. i really want to get another one maybe going down my back of the word "spearwort"... it has a significant meaning to me.0 -
i love the idea of getting a tatt to symbolize your weighloss!
once i get to my goal weight i want to get a tattoo to. i only want one though so mines not going to be weightloss related. i want to get something to do with my kids and have their names or something on me0 -
I already decided that i was going to get a golden snitch tattoo when i get to my goal weight. But I'm glad other people are doing it too. I have one on my foot already and I love it! I can't wait to another one.0

The female form is a work of art!
I have never understood why people want to change that.0 -
The only thing is...our weights are going to fluctuate throughout our lives, so at some point, your numbers may not have the same significance. I don't think my start weight is anything I'd ever want tattooed on my body.
The stars idea on the other hand is pretty cute.

I have 3 tattoos that I regret. Regret is a real possibility with any tattoo- regardless of significance. Things change, and what was significant to us at one point, may mean little to us in the future.0 -
I definitely want one when I am done losing weight, but I haven't decided what yet. The star idea is awesome! I will have to think about what I want!0

I agree that getting a tattoo is a big desicion and I have two that I want to get. not when I reach a goal weight. As part of my new healthy lifestyle I have gotten involved in the sport of Triathlon and I am in LOVE. I have decieded that once I complete three seasons and my first Iron man I am getting the following two tattoos.
Right arm-
Left arm-
Chinese symbol of endurance-
It's a sport I plan to be a part of as long as my body will allow. A big part of a healthy lifestyle that can last a long time. But I wont allow myself to do it until I am three years in and know that I am definatley sticking with it.0 -
You can always get it lasered off! I am in the process of doing that now. Unfortunatley it hurts way more than getting the tattoo and costs 10 times more!0

I have one that I got on my lower back , in NOV of last year, It is my 4 sons's astrological signs, and after each sign is a star for their birth order, so firstborn has one star, 4th son has 4. the stars are purple and green and look like shooting stars, it is awesome! I knew I didnt want their names on my body, but I wanted them to each be symbolized in some way, this was the perfect way.
Enjoy yours!0 -
I have 11 tattoos and I love all of them because they are all meaningful to me! I decided that it was best for me to be able to hide them and they can all be covered by a one-piece bathing suit. You should be happy with whatever you decide and be proud of your tattoos!0

That's a great idea :flowerforyou: What a great way to celebrate your achievement in a lasting way
I have 6 tattoos - used to have 7 - and everytime I look at them I remember the person I was and how I was feeling at the time, it's nice to get in touch with that younger version of yourself I think
A little advice - get them where they can be hidden + try to know who is doing it....One of mine was done by a guy who went to jail just after for some pretty nasty stuff (I didn't know him personally btw)and even though I liked it and designed it, I couldn't cope having a permanent reminder of him.....Thousands of $$$ later and so many laser treatments to fix it GRRR!!
Anyway - a great way to celebrate and remind yourself of where you've come from and what you've achieved :drinker: :drinker:
PS love the triathlon tat0 -

Im getting it next weekend. Its going to be on my forarm at the bend of my elbow. Im very excited. Its going to be simple and Ill see it when ever I want to pop something bad into my mouth. Happy birthday to me! Well its going to be happy late birthday to me.0 -
I also planned on getting a tattoo as a reward for my weight loss. It won't have as much to do with my weight as to the location. It will be in my lower back (somewhere i'll never tattoo until i lose this weight!) I'm getting my children's names, Chloe, Rileigh and Makaylah, circling a sun (i'm a leo, a sun sign). I mean your kids are your kids forever, that will never change!0

I have several, but the biggest one is almost my entire stomach. When I had my c-section, it was not sewn back together in the right places, so now it's visibly crooked...not to mention it's now 20 years old and quite faded. I don't really care for it anymore, but I don't regret it. And it now has a new meaning for me....a reminder of my daughter's birth.....so I wouldn't trade the mis-sewn crooked section for anything0
