I've started a new group everyone! I don't have much time this morning and the invitation method is literally copy and paste (ew). Try to join it on your own if you can, otherwise I'll slowly invite everyone. If you don't get an invite by tomorrow message me so I can add you. It's called PCOS Ladies Support Group and it's a private group.
  • PCOS here too. Really struggling losing weight now - had weight loss surgery and lost 140 but have gained 40 back over the past 3 years and now I can't even lose 5lbs and keep it off for a week. (water weight shifts I imagine). SO FRUSTRATING!!

Would love to hear from you ladies who've had sucess and learn what you're doing to get around the issues that come with PCOS.

I have struggled with weight my whole life...I never thought I had any ridiculously crazy eating habits that were different from my sister or friends. I sure was overweight though! Painfully so!! I was disagnosed with PCOS at 24, and by the grace of God never had to face infertility. A lifetime of obesity, body hair, irregular periods, emotional roller coasters, embarrassment can take a toll on you. I lost 80lbs at age 24 and kept it off for 2 years. HARD WORK!!! Once my son was born at age 28, I never was able to get back on track. My daughter is 8, struggling already with weight. My husband and I have done our best to try to monitor her to the best of our ability and still let her be a kid. My son, 12, has the metabolism of a nut like his dad and can eat to beat the band with zero consequences! We are an active family, we go to the gym several times a week, encourage physical activity and so on. My husband is very fit and has to try to bulk up. Must be nice! I worry for my daughter and have been on our doctor for 3 years about her weight. They were not concerned, of course, until now when she is quite heavier than she should be. I felt like I have failed her until I thought about my own struggle. I am having her checked for PCOs as soon as possible. They feel that her body is maturing quickly and that she is pre menstrual....at 8!! I am now trying to be an even better example to her and our whole family is taking on a healthy eating change. My heart aches that she is going through what I did. I want her to feel beautiful and I pray that no one defines her beauty for her. I will get her the support she needs. The support I got was "Stop eating so much!" Yeah it was great...Does anyone else have a child struggling with weight? I would love to hear from you.

I have it too. I got married almost 9 years ago, went off the pill to start trying to conceive ended up with major bleeding issues. Several tests later my doctor told me I had PCOS and referred me to a specialist. They put me back on the pill and Metformin to control bleeding, then took me off the pill and started testing to see if there were any other fertility issues. Did a round of Clomid - pregnant, at 7 weeks miscarried, back on another round of Clomid, miscarried at 5 weeks. I didn't give up, was waiting a couple months before next round of Clomid and ended up pregnant. Miscarried that one too at 10 weeks - this one was due to a blood clot. So, waited 2 months, was due to go back to the doctor, but put it off a month - during that month we conceived again without any treatment - proud to say I have a healthy (almost) 6 year old. Because of all complications, I had to take both Heparin shots (27 weeks) and Progesterone shots (until 20 weeks), but all worked out in the end. Almost 2 years later and lots of trying on our own, we had settled on our daughter being the only child for me, for her to tell me that she was going to have a sibling, she was right. I also have a 3 year old now.

Don't give up - oh, and if I had been told to lose weight, my journey may have been easier. But neither of my doctors told me that was part of my problem, I discovered that as an issue with PCOS, after my sister was diagnosed and pointed it out to me. Of course, also after having both children and an ablation (which makes me unable to have any more children). I'm happy with my 2, but I'm also here to support all of you.

I have it, anyone feel free to add me, it is really hard when you are surrounded by others who don't, my best friend lost 50lbs. in about 6mo. and she keeps telling me to follow all this stuff she was doing(we both workout about the same amount of time, and i actually eat more "healthy" food than she does although our calories were about the same range daily) and she doesn't seem to understand that it's not that easy for someone who has PCOS. So anyone please feel free to add me, i can always use the support and advice from others on this.

hello! I have pcos. I was told i had it in 2005. But really ive never looked into it and never really known too much abt it. I know it can cause infertility as i cant conceive when im 17 stone +. But can conceive when i weigh less. Losing weight helped me with having babies. I think if im 15 stone or less then my fertility is ok. Are there some ppl with severe pcos and some with not so severe? Ive had no trouble to lose weight. But from 17/18 stone to 13/14 stone is easy. But then i get stuck. Is this due to my pcos?? That didnt even cross my mind that why its just so hard now!

I feel your pain...I have a 6 1/2 year old who is starting to pack on a bit of weight...It's not much but it's noticeable...She plays soccer & basketball & does dance and we've noticed how much she has slowed down...I've made it my mission now to eat well & be active with her...I stress the importance of being healthy & having energy over appearance...I know I have to be the example for her...My husband is tall & slim...He can eat whatever he wants...He doesn't understand what we go through...

I have it too! I was diagnosed 12 years ago.

Ladies, weight loss is possible with PCOS, it can be done. I have done it! In 2006/2007 I managed to lose over 100lb in the hope of having children. It worked!! I now have 3 beautiful children, although unfortunately I also have the weight back too.

My PCOS is terrible, I have all of the symptoms. I can't tolerate metformin and I can't use birth control due to blood clotting issues. Weightloss is the only treatment I can use, but it's not easy!

I was diagnosed at 18 when I didn't get certain things every month and they stuck me on Metformin 3 times a day which is ironically also a drug for diabetes so if anyone wants to buddy me up thats great!
