what to eat pre-workout

I've been working out right after work, pretty intensely. I was eating greek yogurt (around 100cals w/lots of protein) but I've still been very hungry during workouts.
I'm starting to think I should focus on carbs pre-workout.
Any suggestions? It has to be something I can eat quickly, no preparation, sometimes I have to eat it while walking (so apple + PB is out).
Thanks!

Jillian Michaels recommends a banana and a small glass of milk.0

Bananas!! They're the perfect pre-workout food for me. I don't like to eat any dairy before I work out, it bothers my tummy.0

if you want to eat pre workout then eating right before you work out is not doing anything for you except making you feel full. It takes quite a while to digest food so if you are talking about benefiting from food pre workout then professionals recommed eating such foods two to three hours before the actual workout so those nutrients you are trying to get in you are actually in your system come workout time.0

Yup bananas do the trick, if I get up early I will eat half before and half after, I definitely feel like my body needs it during my workout cause I've tried not eating anything and that doesn't cut it... also I like Luna bars or a small handful of trail mix...

I 1/2way agree with matt. You want a little carby stuff in ya, but it take a little while for the goodies to get into your bloodstream, I like a fruit or a granola bar or something 1/2 hour before I hit the floor. Fruit sugars digest pretty quickly.
After a while you'll get more in tune with your bod. I can feel it when I'm ready - I get that little rush and the pump starts pumping and I know it's showtime,,, and this starts about 30 min's after I eat my goodies.0 -
Another vote for bananas. I have one when I wake up, wait about 20-25 minutes, and then start my workout.0

I want to eat so I don't cut my workouts short due to hunger, and/or feel faint as soon as I'm done. I guess I could also drink gatorade or something but those seem like empty calories to me.0 -
Sandy and I agree, and Matt sez the same thing except the timing. You don't want to eat the nanner, drop the peel and hit the floor - that doesn't help anything. You gotta have a little digestion time. Banana 1/2 hour before you start works for most of us.0

if 1/2 hour works for you that's fine but it's mostly a sugar rush if you're feeling it that fast... theres no way your body can metabolize food in 1/2 an hour... it wouldn't even be into your intestines yet right.0
