Protruding bones

I think hip bones are very sexy, if I do say so myself! I think you're picturing people who are basically skin and bones. But with hip bones, they can show even if you're not that thin. When I was in the "overweight" category mine still showed a bit, and now that I lost weight they are very prominent. It's just because I have large hips.
I do think it was bit insensitive of your BF to say that, but to each their own :P0 -
personally, I don't think he got with you because of your hip bones.... I am almost positive it was just a statement to add to the conversation, kind of like, if someone said "I love Mel Gibson" And her boyfirend taking offense to it because he is no mel gibson
This.
The other day my wife and I had a conversation about butts. She couldn't understand how people can like a bubble butt (like Kim Kardashian style *kitten*)...I personally love it...I know a lot of guys that do. She didn't take offense...It's no secret that I'm attracted to my wife who does not have a bubble butt.
I also have never liked big boobs...my wife didn't have big boobs when we met but since having our son, gaining weight, and getting prego with #2 they've probably tripled in size...and I'm cool with it...I am still just as attracted to her as I always was.
Point is...whether your hip bones protrude or not...he's still most likely into you.
Exactly. Men can find a lot of different things attractive. He is probably still very attracted to your lack of bony hips0 -
I love hip bones and collar bones, both are so sexy! Everyone finds something attractive and I don't shy away from telling my hubby what I like on a man (even if he doesn't have it...yet), just like he tells me things he likes that I don't have :sad:0

Even at my heaviest of 209 lbs my hip bones, collar bones, and shoulder blades have always poked out. I am fairly tall (5'10).
Im like this too... Im 5'10" and even at 200lbs, my collar bone and hip bones protrude...its just the way my body is. Sort of blah that people are saying thats gross and unattractive. I cant help it...and goodness knows Im not going to become even more overweight to try and hide it that I have any bones!
Anyway, I wouldnt read much into it if a guy said he liked to see bones...at least to me, it in no way means hes saying he likes super skinny women, its just something he likes. And I agree with the person who said that your self perception may be getting in the way, with your weight loss, you may well be getting more defined/not as padded (for lack of a better way to put it!! lol) and he likes what he sees..so thats what came to mind to tell you...that he liked how *you* look
Yeah, it's a tad irritating that my natural body is 'gross and unattractive'. What do you want us to do, suck in our bones!?0 -
My hubby does not like bones sticking out, he prefers an athletic type of build...where as I find bones to be kind of attractive...I think it's the artist aspect of me a little bit. I find them attractive, as well as the wrist and ankle bones....maybe I'm just odd? Either way, if that's what he likes that's what he likes...doesnt mean you have to meet his perfect image, you are you and I'm sure he accepts that.0

My point is, I am sure you took it differently than he intended. If you truly have an issue with it, ask him. He is the one that said it, and he is the one that knows what he meant. Asking someone else, is like asking a dog if he knows if the cat likes catnip.
Haha I would be massively creeped out if he DID get with me just because of my hip bones... :P
Thanks everyone for your posts, it's interesting to get different perspectives on it0 -
I like to see my hip bones, but I don't think the majority of guys do. Or they're just lying when they say they don't like them. Who knows, dudes are diverse, confusing creatures that are too simple to be not difficult to read BAHA.0

I know right...I cant even suck my stomach all in anymore lmao!!!
*sigh*0 -
My boyfriend says he finds redheads sexy and likes women who like beer. I'm a brunette and I hate beer, really alcohol in general. It doesn't mean he wants me to dye my hair and force myself to drink a Bud Lite, it's merely something he finds mildly attractive but can live without. I would imagine what your guy said about hip bones is the same thing, he likes it but it's not necessary on any girl he dates, including you.
Long story short there's nothing to worry about. I think it's only when someone tries to force something like that upon the person they're with that it becomes a problem, not only for the relationship but for the one who might/might not change since it will give them a skewed perception of themselves and their attractiveness.0 -
Had a similar issue with that and chest bones (like between your collar bones and chest), my boyfriend said they were attractive but mine only show when I breathe in sometimes. I'm thin but my bones are really small so I have to be at a bmi of 18.0 or so for them to really show much. I felt bad because sometimes he makes me feel insecure about my body without meaning to, but honestly if your boyfriend is with you chances are he adores your body how it is. Don't do anything unhealthy so that they'll think you look better, I dropped 17 pounds and my bf didn't even notice until I told him why I was wearing new jeans when he really liked my old ones...0

Honestly, I have never thought about it. Other than wrist and ankle bones, I have never had any.0

i know one thing -- my husband hates protruding bones! one time i was laying on my back on the bed, disrobed, and there happened to be a bit of blanket under my butt, so it kind of pushed my hip-region up -- ergo, my hip bones were sticking out MUCH more than they otherwise would. when my husband walked into the room and saw me, he unconsciously said "EWW". i had to make him explain himself -- it really hurt my feelings at the time.
that said, i like my collarbone. when it first made an appearance, i loved it, and i still enjoy it. but i'm not going for hips and ribs sticking out... in general, i don't like being able to see what's under the skin, which is maybe a separate issue, but even stuff like being able to see veins under the skin kind of squicks me out... same with muscles, too, so i'm not going to become a bodybuilder any time soon...0 -
I don't particularly find this attractive:
but I am a sucker for a nice collarbone, so glad I can see mine again.0 -
I quite like protruding hip and collar bones on a girl that's not emaciated. However, I do get freaked out by rib and chest bones. I don't know why.
Unfortunately, I have protruding ribs and my hip and collar bones are rather well hidden /sigh.
I wouldn't worry about your guy liking protruding hip bones. Everyone likes different things, but it doesn't mean that's the only thing they'll go for in a partner.0 -

Hmmm...I was trying to make a decision one way or another on this question until I saw this pic.
Yep...I like em.
Then again I also like women who don't have them...so that probably just means I don't really care either way.0 -

my first thought was "how the hell does she carry heavy stuff?" (my pouch-y sisters know EXACTLY what i'm talking about!)0 -
Not on the opposite sex but on females, yes, I think visible bones are sexy. I dream and strive for my collar bone, hip bones, and ribs to show!0
-
I think it can be sexy on females...but it depends on the rest of her build too. I googled femal hip bone for some representative images...and found 31 freaking pictures on the Chive lol.
Hot to me:
Not so hot to me:
Again...hot to me:
Not so hot:
Remember...these are MY thoughts, about MY preferences. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the ones I don't find as attractive, or that they're sick, or unhealthy...or anything else. Again...MY PREFERENCES.0 -
Not on men. I LOVE the bones visible look on girls. I think girls that are thin with the bony hands/wrist/hips/collarbones are so beautiful. I have bony everything but hip bones and I'm working on those I don't think my boyfriend likes it tho, he thinks I"m too thin as it is.0

Now that is HOT.0 -

That looks excessive to me, and honestly I would be concerned for my girlfriend's health were her stomach to look like that. But, whatever floats your boat. I couldn't care less about anyone else aiming for that level of prominence.0 -
Now that is HOT.
Damn straight .0 -
Luckily for me, my boyfriend and I both like it when my bones stick out.0

See, looking at a couple of images, I did catch myself thinking... yeah they are pretty sexy ladies!0

Hay, don't take away from what you have, just by looking at what others have. They can be a good goal to set, as long as you don't mind putting forth the work. Don't think they are the best people only by the way they look, there is more to relationships than sexyness of one person. If that was the case, I know 50 people who wouldn't have a spouse or significant other0 -
...but what about the cushion for the pushin?
Precisely. Protruding bones = painful in the bedroom.
Personally? Some women/men genetically have bonier hips, others don't. Personally I have protruding bones no matter how much weight I put on. But I hate it... I prefer women with a smooth transition from waist to hip!!
What are you doing in the bedroom
My hip bones and collar bones never got in the way.
Oh yeah and just to add, cushion = big *kitten*, not big stomach.0 -

I know right? Unless you're full on belly flopping on them...I can't imagine it being an issue.0 -
ewww bones
I agree anything "protruding" doesn't sound too sexy, but each their own.0 -
I think he's talking about a nice, thin middle and when the hip bones kinda show, it is sexy.......we're not talking about gross, boney looking girls, I know exactly what he's talking about........:)0
