I usually have to pay for that kind of "fun" action but "love" it. :laugh:0 -

I have been trying to persuade my wife to take a Pole Dancing class for years now (for fitness purposes of course!!!!!)0
-
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! Pole is the hardest exercise I have attempted, and I love every minute of it. Make sure you do it with your heels on!!0
-
A gal that I work with started taking classes and loves it so much she is having a pole installed in her new home. (a full dance studio). Her arms have REALLY toned up noticably, her butt and abs really ROCK solid! She LOVES how fun it is.
Anyway, without much "pitch", just seeing her results has me tempted for when I get to a more reasonable weight where that is even an option!
ENJOY IT!!! Workouts SHOULD be FUN!0 -
I got a voucher once for a trial pole dancing fitness class. I really wanted to try it out but I had classes and it was back home which was a 3 hour drive.0
-
I think it would be fun, but I'd have to take a friend with me so we could giggle our way through the stuff we couldn't do. I think it would be a hottt night too!0
-
I would love to go; they also have a chair dancing class at our gym I want to try!0

poles dance?0

One of my friends is really amazing at pole dancing, she's totally inspirational.
I think I want to lose a little more weight before I attempt anything like this, though. I don't like the concept of jiggly bits hanging at odd angles or smacking myself in the face with the ladies.0 -
I'd love to try it... unfortunately I live in a small town where they don't offer that kind of thing :grumble:0
-
I did it for awhile and LOVED IT!! It was such a killer workout! The pole gym is just a bit to far from my house and in the Chicago winters it's a pain the the tush to drive!! I would do it again in a heartbeat though!0

You made me laugh, I bet you would rock the pole!0 -
I LOVE pole fitness! Every inch of me feels sore after I'm done. I've taken like 10 classes and was about to start the intermediate but I messed up my ankle and stopped going. We had to go in our highest heels. That would present a problem with a busted ankle  Once I have the time and funds, I'm going to pick back up. My body was loving the burn!0

I took it last year and loved it!!! Worked muscles I never knew I had....sadly they don't offer the class anymore tho there is that pole i have at home0

^^ This ---- I want to try it too, but I'm scared I might give my self two black eyes!!0 -
I love pole (as you might guess from my user pic). It is a great workout, and it does take your body a while to get used to it, but over time you may find your less sore. Many people, myself included, also learn to love the soreness and the bruises, they mean you've worked hard.
Heels are purely optional though. If you love them, wear them. If you don't, it's perfectly okay to pass on them. Plus, the mess up your lines a lot of the time.0 -
Use to take it a couple of years ago I LOVED it It's a great workout and super fun! Made it to level 3 classes then had to give it up due to money.0
-
I liked it...but I was left with a LOT of bruises on my inner thighs and ankles. I was in pain for days after too...lol
Excellent workout though.0 -
Ewwwww0

I want to take it, but I would prefer to go with a friend, and I just don't have any IRL. lol Who wants to come join me?? :bigsmile:0

LOVE it and have a pole at home because I don't have studios close by, BUT GINORMOUS bruises from it. Fantastic upper body workout though for me. I have most of my strength in my legs so I like the fact that it varies my workouts.0

The Pros about pole dancing is that it is a good workout! It's not always a cardio type of workout, but you can gain muscle similar to pilates. You are using your body weight, which helps tone you all over. The bad thing is that you will bruise, especially the first time you do it. One time I did upside, and it took a while, but I bruised the hell out of my side! If you do it all the time you will get bruises mostly in the inner leg and ankles. It's where you are holding the pole. More and more fitness studios are expanding pole dancing to different things, such as simple pole dancing and cardio work with heels and such. I bet if you keep on doing it, you'll go and buy a pole like I did. It's really the only exercise you will do every day, because it's fun.0

I have a pole and videos from Flirty Girl Fitness! Love infomercials, they're my weakness, haha. But beware, I live in apartments, and was able to fill the hole the first time (but certain ceilings don't hold the weight well). Very easy to do the dances, but the tricks had a tendency to yank the pole from the ceiling since I can't permanently install it. So I definitely suggest going to classes at a studio if you want to try it out. Super fun, a ridiculous tough workout, and some added benefits... ; )0

The bruises were fun to explain...0 -
*lmao* I told my husband that once I lose all of this weight and reveal my awesome muscles underneath it that I was going to be a stripper for fun. I might be old and busted by the time that happens (I'll be nearly thirty) but I'm totally down for it. *chuckle*0
-
It gives you a whole new respect for strippers, doesn't it?
When I was younger I could do a bunch of pole tricks, but nowadays I'd be lucky if I could walk around for an hour in eight inch heels.
Some classes are a joke though, all you do is walk around for a month of classes.
Take the hardcore ones that actual strippers teach and you will get BUFF.0 -
Pole dancing is not for the weak or faint of heart! I have a new found respect for strippers. LOL That upper body strength it takes to life all your body weight into the air is amazing!
I'll stick with the chair dancing at Flirty Girl Fitness. I've gone a couple times to their classes in the Chicago facility and it's mad fun and you do get a good sweat going on. Sometimes though the people there aren't there for the fitness part of it can be distracting to those there purely for the workout, e.g. drunken bachelorette parties. They should pay for a private class...off topic and IJS....0 -
Ewwwww
Your low self esteem is showing0 -
I would love to go; they also have a chair dancing class at our gym I want to try!
chair dancing sounds fun also0
