Yeah, I was thinking of rotating the two as well. Are you doing the 9 week c25k or 7 month? I was going to do the 7 month..because it's much much more doable for me unfortunately :embarassed:

I would like to join your group. I started the regular C25K last week. Tomorrow, I am planning to do Wk1:day3. I have a friend that is planning to jog a 5K in Sault Saint Marie, MI with me in April. It is 6 months away so I can take as long as I need to train. Do you have any links to websites with free music or info for the 7 month training? I have Jillian's shred video but haven't tried it yet. Maybe I will log off and put it in for a workout.

I'm going to be starting tomorrow with the 30 day shred to kick off the program! Have a good night everyone! Also wanted to say, I'm going to try incorporating some beginner's yoga most mornings to gain some flexibility!

Work ran late and darkness came early today so I didn't make it out for my C25K run. But, I did do The Shred for a second day in a row. How is everyone else doing?

www.c25k.com - It has a link to the cool running website as well as podcasts to listen to on your iPod/MP3 player to do the program without worrying about watching your distance or time.

So far I am keeping on track. Today I was able to do WK1/Day3 of C25K but had to run on treadmill -- rainy, cold weather sucks  I surprised myself by going 5.5 mph on the jogs. I find the treadmill much harder than walking/jogging outside. The time just goes quicker outside.

Savvy - Level 2 WOW :drinker: I haven't been able to keep up with the easy lady on level 1 yet. I was proud to actually do 30 jumping jacks without a break. Jillian definitely gives you a great workout. Tomorrow will be day 3 with her.

Here is another link for free podcasts on the C25K program. Unfortunately it is for the 9 week program - I just plan to repeat weeks as it gets harder.

    Keep up the good work.

Robert Ullrey is the best. I am using his podcasts. Week 2 could use a little more jazz to the music.

I did W3D2 today of C25K. Oh boy. Running for three minutes straight was getting tough at the end. One more run friday and then I am on week 4. :)

You'll get there on Level 1. :) Jillian really does kick your booty in the workouts.

I just did w6d2...my first 25 minute run. After the first 10 minutes I wanted to stop...really bad! But I just told myself 5 more minutes and I will let myself stop. Then I said at the end of this street I will stop...then I looked and it was 17 minutes in...so I said at 20 minutes I will let myself stop for 1 minute...then I pushed to 22 and the last 3 minutes were a killer but......I DID IT. I actually did it! 7 weeks ago the farthest I ever ran was to first base in soft ball...ok maybe every once in awhile I got a double.
So tomorrow is my visit with Jillian...level 2 ( I rotate between 2 and 3).
    Good luck everyone...

I have done level 1 of the Shred 3 times this week and completed week 1 of C25K. Due to bad weather, I have had to move from training outside to the treadmill - I am planning to repeat week 1 of C25K. The treadmill is much harder for me - I just cant seem to judge my speed. My planned 5K is in April so I have lots of time to get there.

I was bad today and didn't do either. I have company from out of town and we planned a day of shopping in Mackinac. I wanted to burn more calories so I did 45 min of step aerobics this morning. We spent 5 hours shopping and site-seeing. For kicks, I looked on-line and guess what - 5 hours of shopping at my weight burns about 1200 calories  I am shocked that shopping is exercise - but my legs were aching and I know it was better than sitting at home on the couch.

savvystephy - I cant wait to get where you are with either the Shred or C25K. Keep up the great work.

kaylou - I can only dream of a 25 min run. I hope I have your will power to keep going when I get there. WOW

areinna - are you still with us? How are you doing on the conservative C25K?

Keep with C25K and 30 Day Shred and you'll be there in no time! Just keep pushing yourself and you'll see awesome results. I love C25K and 30 Day Shred. It's a nice balance of cardio and circuit training.

My body needed a rest day yesterday.

I did low impact floor aerobics this morning and am thinking about taking a break to go do The Shred. I worked 10 hours today and still have 4 notes to type up for doctor's tonight :grumble: I think the energy from the workout will clear my head and make my typing quicker.

How do you log jogging/walking in C25K on the exercise log? Do count min of each or do measure distance and time?

Thanks for the reminder on the heart rate monitor. I bought one last year but I don't think I ever used it. I managed to find the monitor and watch but still have to search for the directions - I cant get it to turn on. I will check the battery after I find the directions.

I have been keeping up with either the C25K or The Shred each day (I took Sunday off as a day of rest). Next week I plan to try level 2 of the shred. I couldn't find my ipod yesterday when I went to use the treadmill so I improvised on the times. I did several reps of 2 min at 5 mph and 60 sec at 6 mph and walked at 3.5 mph. I guess there is hope that I may be able to run someday...

I hope everyone else is doing well.

I took yesterday off as a rest day because I have been obsessing about exercising the last couple of weeks and haven't given myself one. Today I did Day 2 of Week 4 of C25K. Tomorrow I am going to attempt Level 3 of 30 Day Shred.

pinbotchick- The HRM is my new best friend. After I was working out for 3 months consistanly (because we have all started programs and then quit) I treated myself to the polar f6.
I absolutly love it...when I feel tired I look down and see I have only burned 150 calories and then I tell myself I can not rest until 200 and then 250 and then 300. Its how I get myself through the workouts/runs! And its great to see the "fat" melting away

I tried Level 2 of the Shred today - I agree it is much easier than Level 1 - at least it's easier on my knees:wink: I think I will do this level the next week, then try level 3. Maybe then I will alternate the levels.

Tomorrow I am on to week 2 of the C25K. I hope the rain leaves so I can run outside.

Finished Week 4 of C25K today and yesterday I did Level 3 of 30 Day Shred. I am not really sure it's that harder than level 2, it's just different. It really focuses on your abdominals though. More than Level 1 or Level 2. So, Level 3 will give you solid abdominal muscles.
