One year before and after!

I began my weight loss journey 1 year ago when I weighed 188, wore a size 16/18 and was the heaviest I’d ever been. I was turning 50 and I hated the way I looked and felt. When I went to the doctor for a physical and he told me that I was considered obese, I decided that I wasn’t going to live that way anymore. I was going to lose weight and get healthy.
I started out by watching what I ate and doing a program based on a book called “Run your butt off” which is very similar to C25K. I ran 5 days a week and began to lose weight. After about 3 months, I found MFP and began to track my calories and I continued to lose weight. I ran my first 5K in November, and then started alternating my running with various Jillian Michaels workouts. I ran a second 5K in March and shaved almost 5 minutes off my time.
I hit my original goal weight of 135 a couple of months ago, but then decided I wanted to lose an additional 10 pounds. Today I weigh 129 (I’m 5’-3”) and wear a size 4/6. I’m now turning 51 and healthier and thinner than I’ve ever been. I’d still like to lose that last 4 pounds, but I’m not too worried about it.
I’ve learned so much from all of you about how to eat and exercise to be healthy and I understand that this is lifestyle change, not a diet. I believe now I have the tools to make this a permanent change for the rest of my life. Thanks to all of you!

Thank you all for your kind words! You look fantastic! How did you do it? What were your methods?
Since I started on my own, I just cut down on my portions and tried to eat right. After I discovered MFP, I was very careful with my calories and rarely went over. I got a little obsessive about it and had to convince myself that it wasn't good to be under on calories. I exercise 5 days a week doing running or exercise DVD's. I didn't start eating back exercise calories until I realized that I was tired all the time. So I started eating half of my exercise calories and I felt much better. Once I hit 135, I started eating all of my exercise calories. I'm losing slowly now, but that's fine with me.0
