People who make you feel unsuccessful

So, I've lost 50 lbs since Thanksgiving. Most of the time I'm crazy excited about where I am now compared to where I was. Most of the time, I even feel fit, more attractive, and content with who I am now even though I still have about 32 lbs to go. However, there is one person who always makes me feel unsuccessful. My softball coach is always making comments about the way I look and my weight. Tonight he said, "You are probably the best athlete out here. If you lost the weight this would be nothing for you and you would look better too." Another time he said, "You are so much quicker than you look". I just wanna high five him, in the face, with a chair!! I'm like coach Blake, I've lost 50 lbs and I work my *kitten* off in the gym. The weight is moving, and yes I'm pretty quick..despite the extra weight, I work on it everyday. Anyway.. he's a jerk. End of vent....

Wow what a dodo! Is he totally unobservant and not see that you're doing an amazing job of losing extra weight? I'd think he'd be giving you kudos right and left since he's a coach for a physical activity. Again, what a dodo! 50 lbs lost is fabulous! Keep up the great work!0

That's awful, so sorry you have to feel like this after so much success! My issue is with my co-workers who say nothing after 60 pounds, not one single compliment, I try to be the "bigger" person but it hurts!0

I'll tell you what my husband said to me one time after I was upset about a comment someone made about my weight. He said, "The next time they say that, you say "Well, at least I can always lose the weight. Unfortunately, you will always be stupid.""
I don't think there is anything wrong with giving him the "what for" the next time he says something o negative. Even if you say, "Gee Coach. I've been working my rear off - literally - to lose weight and I'm doing a GREAT job. It would sure be nice to hear that from you every once in a while." Gets your point across without being disrespectful, and will probably make him feel like an *kitten*.
Best of luck to you - and you ARE doing a great job! Keep it up!! :flowerforyou:0
