"It's hard to leave" by Judith Durham. Played at my mum's funeral, this always makes me weepy.

    Plus most of Moby's tracks.

"forever Young" by Alphaville. Have always loved it. Because it reminds me of our youth and how we would live our lives. Two years ago our friends lost their 15 year old son in a tractor accident. I hadn't heard the song forever, then heard it while driving about a month after his death. Had to pull over and have a good cry. Brought an all new meaning to the lyrics.

Amazing Grace and Taps; too many military funerals!

Same here! Amazing Grace makes me think of flag-draped coffins.
  • The one that makes me bawl my eyes out is Elvis Presley's version of "You'll Never Walk Alone"...it was my grandparent's favorite song and when they passed away it was sung beautifully at their funerals. I was very close with my grandmother and her favorite artist was always Elvis. Another song that used to make me bawl but now I can just smile through the tears is "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder--when I used to call my grandmother to check in I would sing it to her and we would sing together on the phone.

Another song that gets me is Carrie Underwood's "Temporary Home"...the last verse is so sad!

    Danny Boy

One expression of it is that of an Irish mother living through the hard times that prevailed many years ago waving goodbye to her son from a quayside as he set off to cross the Atlantic to start a new life in America, knowing that it was a akin to a death sentence, because she knew she would most likely never see him again.

To my taste preferably sung by Eva Cassidy

Amazing Grace...it was sang at a funeral of a loved one that died from cancer. If you listen to the actual lyrics they are very moving.

"Take the Long Way Home" by Supertramp...for some reason it makes me think of my childhood and memories of my mother. I think it was in a movie once.

"I'm Already There" by Lonestar....Oh my goodness! I forgot about this one! When my husband was deployed, I was at a Women's Conference where the ex lead singer of Lonestar sang a bunch of songs, and this was one of them. I had never listened to the words until then, I bawled the entire time & so did all of the women with me :) The stories behind their songs are amazing....he told us how he came to write each & every one of them...."Front Porch looking in" is a good one too!

    Im here by Fantasia....

I believe I have inside of me
Everything that I need to live a bountiful life
With all the love inside of me
I'll stand as tall as the tallest tree
And I'm thankful for each day that I'm given
Both the easy and the hard ones I'm livin'
    But most of all
Yes I'm thankful for lovin' who I really am
    I'm beautiful
    Yes I'm beautiful
    And I'm here

One of these days you're gonna love me-Tim McGraw

We use to chase that boy home from school
Called him freckle face, red headed fool
    He was different,
    He wasn't cool like me.

Sticks and stones didn't break any bones
But we never left well enough alone
But one day he ran away from home you see
And I passed him as we walked away
And in his eyes I heard him say

One of these days your gonna love me
You'll sit down by yourself and think
'Bout the times you pushed and shoved me
And what good friends we might have been
And then your gonna sigh a little
Maybe even cry a little but
One of these days your gonna love me

Patty Sue was a small town beauty
I took one look at her and had to pull her to me
Lord knows she should have seen right through me
When I promised her the world

But at 17 you only want one thing
I left her standing with my high school ring
Innocent tears in the pouring rain
    As I walked away
And I still see her in my dreams
And to this day she's whispering

One of these days your gonna love me
You'll sit down by yourself and think
'Bout the time you turned from me
And what good friends we might have been
And then your gonna sigh a little
Maybe even cry a little but
One of these days your gonna love me

    Now everybody stands up
    the congregation sings
It's a song of sweet forgiveness
    And As the chours rings

The wind blows clear my memory
    The pages start to turn
    And suddenly I'm singing
    The moment that I loved

One of these days I'm gonna love me
And fill the joy of sweet release
One of these days I'll rise above me
And at last I'll find some peace

My Immortal by Evanescence. This song came out right after I lost my godson in a collision with a drunk driver. The words hit home every time I hear it, which is why I try to avoid it.
