  • Can't see your diary, so I can't comment on the calorie intake. It does look like you've already lost 35+lbs, so I'd say you're more at a plateau than having initial loss issues. Best thing I could suggest is to validate that your calorie count is right and that you're including everything. Sometimes people overlook little things like coffee creamer, or sides at lunch. Also if you're drinking any diet sodas try to cut those out entirely, or at least no more than one a day. Just drink as much water as possible.

Keep your chin up and keep at the good work. You won't always see huge drops in weight, but as long as you're staying good on your calories and exercising eventually your body will catch up. Good luck!

Measure yourself! Maybe your body is just losing inches instead of weight.

And from what I hear on this site, two weeks is not considered a plateau. Just keep doing what you are doing - it is obviously working because you've lost 28 lbs already.

If it is really a plateau and you've stopped losing inches and lbs, the most common advice is to do more weight training and up your calorie intake for a while.

    Congratulations and Good Luck!

Your eating too little, below 1200 will be well below your BMR. you will screw up your metabolism that way; I personally would suggest upping your calorie intake ****cowers and waits for the backlash for suggesting this!****

I have hard time making myself eat 1200 calories,,,the 26 lb lost is from March 1 til May 1...got sick May 1 with stomach bug/gastritis so had to go off diet and eat carbs to get stomach straighten up...so have only lost 2 lbs in little over a month.
Forgot to say I have been back on watching what I eat since May 24 and just figured I would drop quickly again.

I imagine your having a hard time eating more because your body has grown accustomed to so little calories.

I'm not a dietician, so all I can do is tell you what worked for me. I have done the low calorie and dieting approach and I have felt weak, tired and miserable. i now eat over 2000 cals a day, that's NET, I still eat back my exercise cals.

Fueling your body will help you work out harder and longer, repair your metabolism, and help you lose weight the healthy way. It takes longer, but the results will be permenant. Who wants to be eating 1200 cals for the rest of their life? Not me thats for sure. Be kind to your body and you will see results

People will tell you this is rubbish, but I can only advise based on my own experience, and no, I am not the exception. I am 5.5 110" and maintain on 2000 cals a day plus, so it's more than possible!

PS, there is nothing wrong with eating carbs!

Just took a look at the past few days of your food diary, NanaDino4, and it looks like you're averaging between 1200-1500 calories, so as far as raw numbers go you look like you're on track. It seems like you're going over on your fat percentage pretty regularly though from cheeses, dressings, etc. Where possible, I would try to cut a lot of those out. Don't get too focused on strict calorie intake, though. Like Emilit_uk said, you can go over so long as the calories you're taking in are being offset with regular exercise.

Since you're back on after a month off, it will take a little while for your body to get back into production mode, but it sounds like you're making great progress. Just stick to it!

you say go back.on carbs.. where you on a low carb diet? If so the bulk of weight you lose within the first month or so is basically alll water weight, so as soon as you eat carbs expect to gain weight...

I restrict my carbs to around 165-200 a day due to keeping my sugar under control.
