    That's not actually what schadenfreude means.

    Schadenfreude is actually MUCH more subtle that sadism.
    Schadenfreude is waiting until the last second to let the elevator door close in someones face, Sadism involves severe cruelty like getting joy from raping someone or from beating a puppy.

    Exactly. Schadenfreude is enjoying pain that happen with out causing it. Sadism involves inflicting pain.

    I learned "marinovio/marinovia" (sp??) from a friend who is from Puerto Rico. It basically means long term couples who are more than boyfriends/girlfriends but not legally married and it applies to opposite gender or same gender couples. Prior to my boyfriend's proposal earlier this year, my friend called us "marinovios" because we have been together for over 7 years. :)
