I've been using Endo for a year this month, and I LOVE it! I join challenges every month to keep me motivated and a lot of my MFP friends are my friends there too.

I just upgraded to Endo Pro for the Interval programs so I can kick things up a notch. It's awesome and I'm SO happy that it was recommended to me!

I use Endomondo every time I ride my bike. It is so cool. MFP and Endomondo really help me stay on track. And I've already biked well over a hundred miles in just a few weeks!

I tried Endomondo and felt it was kind of outdated seeming, compared with some of the features in other apps. My favorite is Run Keeper. That is motivating. But I'm glad you like Endomondo!

I have heard a lot about Run Keeper..... Can you tell me a bit about it?

It's very similar from what I understand. One thing I like (I don't know if Endomondo does this) is that it connects with Facebook, and automatically adds your FB friends to your "feed" if they're also registered and have it connected to FB. I also have it set to where it posts my walks/runs to my wall. You can comment on your friends' activities, etc.

It also, like Endo, records calorie burns (which are off - I put in my avg HR from my HRM and it's almost spot on in its calculations, but I have to enter that manually afterward and does the GPS stuff as well.

From what I gather, MapMyRun is also another very similar app...

Thanks for the information... Endomondo also connects with Facebook... It does sound like they are very comparable...

Hi, I have just got this app and did a search on here to find this thread about it!

I did my first walk using it this morning and it mapped the route perfectly, and the calories burned were within 10 of what I usually get from MFP for it.

One question - does it take into account the fact that I am walking up and down steep hills and am not just on the flat?

I've got it set to 'walking' rather than 'fitness walking'.

Also occasionally I add a bit of jogging into my route, if I leave it set to walking, will it just adjust because of the speed? I definitely walk with a little jog rather than jog with a little walking LOL.

    Thanks

I'm an Endomondo user too - I love the feature that shows which songs were playing during my walk. And the average speed I was doing during each song!

I used Endomondo for a month or 2 but some of the results I was seeing led me to call into question how it calculated calories burnt. It turns out that whilst it gives you a distance tracked and average speed of your workout it doesnt actually take those into account when it calculates the KCals burnt. I was using Endo to give me a Kcal figure that I then stuck into MFP as Quick Calories so I needed it to be reasonably accurate

I was doing the same walk almost daily with my dog and noticed that my Kcals were totally inconsistent. If I did the walk really really fast it told me I burnt less than if I did the same walk at half the pace. A bit of research unearthed the fact that the Kcals burnt figure is calculated based solely on the amount of time you are out walking and your weight. It ignored how fast you went.

So if I went much slower, I was therefore out walking for longer and the Kcals were higher - why would anyone run in that case??

This was back in March/April and I switched to RunKeeper. Endomondo may have fixed those problems but its worth checking particularly if you are currently relying on the Kcals figure it gives you.

Runkeeper seemed the better option for me. It records your route and time and then when you finish it connects to the internet and works out the terrain (ascent/descent) you covered to give a much more accurate kCal reading

    HTH.

every time it anounces the mile i'm on it makes me want to keep going. i'll get to 2.5 miles and the thought in my mind is that i need to keep running to get more miles. the only thing i wish is that it would tell me every half mile, but over all i'm in love with this app!

OHHHHHHHH I Love Endo!!!! My friends have come up for nicknames for "him"...Manuel, Eduardo...etc. This app is fantastic. I'm always trying to race against my best time. I love that it tracks biking, walking, whatever. Best app ever (next to MFP) lol :drinker:

Endo is AWESOME. Especially if you get a spouse, friend, coworker, whatever to sign up on the site too, and when you go for a workout, they can send you messages on Endomondo. My wife often does this while I'm out running and it makes me laugh and helps keep the workout fun, as well as providing a little extra support and encouragement.

I use it for my bike rides. I have a holster for my iPhone that fits my handlebars so I can see my speed and distance at a glance. Love it!

ooooo I so need a holster!!! Mine is always tucked in the bike trailer and all I hear is some voice in the distance and my 3 year old reports back to me what she heard...which isn't always accurate!!

Honestly, I know that it tracks elevation but I'm not sure if they factor it in with the calorie counting... Also, I walk similar to you... more of a fast pace/slight jog walk... and I always use fitness walking... If I am out for a stroll I will use just walk... Does this help?
