when you are feeling really really down about the way you look? How do you stop the negative self talk and get those feelings of being disgusting out of your system?

Honestly.....I exercise. I push myself and think about what a bad-*kitten* I am. I think about the fact that I'm stronger, faster, and leaner every day. That's kind of awesome.

It works for me :) But everyone is different!

I still have atleast 60+ lbs to go. I was feeling a bit down today.

I have this watch that my dad gave me about 10+ years ago. One of the fancy watches. I was unable to wear it few months ago because it was too tight on my wrist.

Lately I have been been able to not only wear it comfortably, but play with it (you know when you move your wrist only to rotate the watch around the wrist). Little things like these NSV's increases my spirit.

I write and rationalise whatever it is I'm feeling depressed about. Rome wasn't built in a day.

    ^^ This!!
Sometimes I do my makeup just to clean the kitchen. I also put on my tennis shoes, for some reason having those on makes me want to move and get things done.

Until recently I ATE!!! Since finding MFP I look at the progress I have made, I think about how I can now eat anything I want (in moderation and as long as I log it) and I say to myself.........I am not on a diet....I have made lifestyle change that is working for me. I feel better than I have in years and I like me! Try to dump the bad feelings and be happy.

^^All of this. And I also second the "Rome wasn't built in a day" mentality. Chin up and smile

Depends what I'm down about (did someone say something or do my pants just not fit right today?)

If it was something someone SAID- the go to response is to write it out. I will write whatever I want. Talk as mean and nasty as I want. Say everything I want to say. Sign it. Seal it in an envelope, take it out to the BBQ and then I set that puppy on F-I-R-E!!!! Once it's ashes, so is the down feeling.

If it's just a clothes thing- it's time for a spoil myself day. Mani-pedi (at home), do up my hair, paint my face like I'm someone famous (but NOT trashy), find the nicest outfit I can fit in, then I go for Window Retail Therapy and drool over all the nice clothes I'll be able to wear when I finally get to a maintenance point.

I exercise also! When I am down on myself I just want to (quite literally punch something) so I need to find another outlet for my frustration. I just want to spend all of my energy and pass out. I usually wake up with the reverse feelings :D

It's hard to stay positive! Just remember, we are all here to help!

When I am feeling really down I get out old pictures of myself to remind me how far I have come. Also to remind myself that I will never look that way again! It is hard to not get down on yourself from time to time especially when progress seems sooo slow. Just remember it will take time. You didn't put it on overnight it won't come off that way either...

I remember all the ugly people who think they're hot and pretend I'm one of them.

I try to remind myself that I am better off now than I was before I started my journey. Then I mentally list all the ways my quality of life has improved and that if I continue on this way how much better it will get.

Actually going on here helps a LOT: I see folks who have a lot more to lose, who are positive, nd it rubs off on me! BTW: twins are the best

I look at my old photos. I remind myself of the progress I made and the things I can do now that I couldn't do before.
I keep the bathroom closet door open so it's in front of the full length mirror when I'm getting in the shower;) lol--I don't have to confront myself about it daily right? ;)

I go ride my Harley, Lil Pearl always makes me feel better in ther wind
  • I think once you are on a program of eating correctly and exercising, you have those negative feelings less and less. When you start to see actual results, you have positive progress to fall back on for a boost.
  • I write and rationalise whatever it is I'm feeling depressed about. Rome wasn't built in a day.

    This! ^

I dont. Its one of my huge problems.

Sometimes just getting ready helps. Take a shower, shave, do your hair, put on makeup, put on lotion etc.

Recently I ordered hair extensions because my hair is in a horrible growing out stage - I'm thinking this will help with my confidence loads :)
