AM I UN-DOING MY "DIET" on the weekend?

I try pretty hard staying on my 1200 cal diet during the week, running 3-4 times a week on top of that. but some weekends, i really really over do it with my eating. for example...i believe i consumed probably 2000+ calories and i haven't been able to run for about week now because of my ankle. i think its my "let go" mentality on the weekend..but is this hurting me a lot? i have a very hard time with self control, cravings and appetite. i don't know what to do....

It's hard to stick to it every day, but instead of just letting go completely, allow yourself individual cheat foods instead of a whole cheat day. Baby steps :)

That depends on the deficit you are currently on. I imagine 1200 calories as it is right now is too low for you anyway.

Unless you have a LOT to lose.

Tell us your BMR and your TDEE. Then we can figure out how much you are truly "undoing" I can bet though that if anything it is extremely minimal. :)

I have a cheat meal or day every week, still losing weight. You'd have to eat A LOT to undo all the other work you're putting in.

My nurse said that I can let loose one day a week, but I have to pick between unhealthy food, or drinking. Needless to say I havent had a drink in months because I like chocolate!

To be honest a cheat won't hurt you, and it can be healthy to have a take away once in a while to trick your body. I once stuck to a strict diet for over a month, and didn't loose anything, then have a large big mac meal, then in the morning notice I lost 5lb over night. (Although that could be my wii fitt)

I wonder this too. I try really hard to eat healthy and stay within my calorie goal, which sometimes I end up using a couple of my exercise calories (which I don't like to do). But on the other hand, on the weekends, I am burning a lot more calories cause we are always doing something. Swimming a ton, walking/jogging. A LOT more than during the week. I need to learn to eat better on the weekends. =(

Are you eating back your exercise calories? running 3-4 miles, that should give you a few hundred calories there, and you should eat them. When I did WW my habit was to basically starve all week and not eat much, even when I was hungry. On weekends I would "let go". It's hard to eat in moderation when you've been depriving yourself all week. I did not lose on weightwatchers, even though I had drastically reduced how much i ate, monday - friday, and was working out.

No. You should be eating your BMR minimum. Also let's just say you ate 2000 calories on both Saturday AND Sunday- that would only be 1000 calories over your TDEE. Or less than half a pound per week. Because you are already small (I'm assuming with your BMR and TDEE being so low) assuming you hit your goals all week and only eat out on the weekends it might look like this-

M-F 250 calorie deficit per day or net "-1250"
    Weekend 1000 calorie surplus
    Net weekly total "-250".

So, maybe that's the case! You are still in a deficit but a very very small deficit. (about .1lbs per week)

This is extremely helpful. Thank you so much. My ex boyfriend is a personal trainer, and he told me to eat 1200 calories. and that my maintenance is about 1500 cals after calculating my BMI. and yes i'm pretty petite (5'2. 112 lbs) so 1 lb does make a big difference. I haven't been able to run or work out for over a week now because of my ankle, but when i do - i do eat my running cals. My weekends are just the biggest problem. and sometimes i do drink (another problem)
