200 cal left for dinner

I'm right there with you today; accidentally blew it out a bit at lunch. My plan is to cook some boneless skinless chicken on the Foreman grill and have it on a nice, big salad with fat-free dressing--measure 4oz chicken and have it without croutons, and it should be be in the low 200s. Also, weather permitting, I'm going for a short jog after work, even though it's a rest day for me. I tend to fudge my calories a little bit, so it's nice to give myself a little extra cushion. I'm excited to see if anyone else has good non-salad ideas!0

Egg white omelet with reduced fat cheese and fresh veggies (spinach, mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc). Then with a side of steamed broccoli or some fresh fruit!
This is a typical meal for me when I've already overdone it for the day ;-)0 -

this is funny, I thought about that and just posted this:
I just noticed that cooked veggies are double (if not triple) in calories than raw veggies. Why is that? So the two egg omelet with mushrooms/spinach/bell peppers becomes a high cal food.0 -

It probably depends on what you cook them in. If you just use a small amount of EVOO or something else low calorie, you won't be adding to much to it. Or just put some water down and let them soften in the water. Then there are no extra calories added.0 -
You could exercise and earn some calories back.0
-
a bag of mircowave popcorn0
-
4.5 ounces of shrimp for 126 calories, and a large lettuce/veggie salad with low-cal dressing.0
-
4 oz. salmon fillet and brussel sprouts here. 169 calories and lots of yum.0
-
That's why I always plan my day out in advance so I don't get stuck.0
-
Cup of veg (frozen or fresh) and gravy - such a nice meal xD very low kcal too! Yummm0

win!0 -
A nice marinara sauce with turkey meat/sausage and veggies over miracle noodles0

I second the notion of exercise to earn extra calories! Also there are MANY people here who focus on their weekly totals rather than daily. Borrow the idea from them... work out a bit longer tomorrow to cover today's overage.0

salmon fillet & steamed broccoli0

My best advice is to do a little exercise to get some calories back and then accept being over a little for one day. If you do a few minutes switching between jumping jacks and walking in place, you should be able to make up a cool 100 calories pretty easily. Then you can go up to about 400 calories for dinner without being super far over your calories.
That's just what I've usually done. Some days you are just over. There are ways to be sensible about it without eating 200 cals for a meal.0 -
I did the same and will be excercising them back today0
-
Chicken breast is about 120 calories or so...put some bbq on it with some veggies on the side...or maybe a salad and its gonna fill you up!0
-
When I have no calories left I always get Fat Free Hot Dogs. They are 40 calories a piece with fat free cheese!0
-
A tuna sandwich w/light miracle whip....an egg white omelet....french toast w/45 cal. bread (made w/egg whites) and a tablespoon of honey....salad....a bowl of cereal w/skim milk....some ground turkey mixed with veggies...some oatmeal....just a few ideas.0
-
I always like a bowl of cereal.0
-
thank you all for your replies. I try not to eat my exercise calories back, and will be OK if I slightly go over today.0

Go for a half hour walk, log it. And make yourself a healthy whole foods dinner when you get back.
You could have fish and veggies. Chicken and rice (and beans), a salad with grilled chicken.

Cooking the vegetables breaks down the plant fibers making them easier to digest, thus increasing the calories. I noticed that also when I started researching these so called "Negative Calorie" foods.0 -

Even if they aren't cooked in any fat, cooked veggies are more calories for the simple fact that they are lower in water content and are now "concentrated". You can test it. Measure out a cup of raw baby carrots, cook them, then measure them again. They will be much less than a cup, probably more like 1/2 cup.
And on to the original topic -
I do all kinds of low cal meals for when I've gone over.
-Sandwich on thin bread with lean meat, mustard, and lettuce/tomato/onion, etc, then have a side of sugar snap peas or baby carrots.
-You can make a filling bowl of oatmeal with 1/2 c fruit.
-1 c nonfat plain greek yogurt with 1 c strawberries
-Egg white frittata or omelette with homemade home fries with no added fat0 -
oatmeal is pretty filliing0
-
This looks delish! And poster says is 171 calories!

(maybe for a different day though--it's a crockpot recipe)0 -
5 oz. of boneless skinless chicken breast and 1 cup of spinach ~ 188 calories. How about burning some more calories today so you'll have a wider variety of foods to choose from?0
-
1c. cheerios + 1/2 c. skim milk + 1 Tablespoon raisins0
-
tuna sprinkled with garlic mixed with tomato wrapped in lettuce .... if one day you go over 50 or 100 calories it won't be the end of the world. I have my cheat day once a week and I go over my calories sometimes as well... as long as food is healthy ( no ice cream or candy bars ) I don't feel bad0
-
200 calories is a whole lot of Fish or Chicken and veggies. Enjoy!0
