I've been doing physical therapy 4x a week for the last 2 weeks (rotater cuff injury and a right SI joint injury flare up...) anyway part of my rehabilitation will be pilates.

I've never done it and I'm curious. What are your thoughts? is it a good strengthening exercise?

I love pilates -- it has given me core strength, eliminated my sciatica pain, and helps me all round feel better so I enjoy my aerobic exercise more. I do a mat class every week, and I do a reformer private. It is great for rehabilitating knee, hip, shoulder problems. I enjoy other exercise like yoga and biking no that I have some core muscles! And when I finish each sesstion I feel at least three inches taller because I do Pilates STRETCHes! Great Stuff

BUMP: I read that it is low impact , improves posture and balance and it strengths your core muscles. I have been considering trying it myself because my back has been in pain for months now.

I'm pretty sure this is with the machines- is that different?
