Morning All, I do like my whole wheat pasta, can anyone tell me, do I take the weight of the pasta BEFORE or AFTER I cook it, obviously, the weight change after cooking (absorbing water). Any suggestions will be greatly received :flowerforyou:

Depends on how you log it, I would go with dry weight making sure you enter the calories that relate to dry weight0

Dry weight, as cooked weight can vary depending on how tender you like your pasta.0

Before
I dont actually weight mine, I just use a hanfdul of pasta, going on that if my stomach is about the size of my fist, when its soaked up the water it will certainly be enough.0 -
It also depends what you are cooking it for. By that I mean do you just cook enough for the meal you are preparing or make extra to keep in the freezer (as I do)?
I weigh and log the calories before cooking in 'My Foods' and then also after cooking so when I want to use the pasta from the freezer I can know the calorie content so I can log it in my diary accurately.
I hope that makes some sort of sense, lol!0 -
Check the packet! it if your using the barcode scanner it will say on the side what the calories are dry weight and then cross referance it with the MFP number to check if they are the same!0
