Paleo Diet

I was recently diagnosed with allergies/intolerance to gluten (including all wheat, barley, millet, etc), tree nuts, sesame, peanuts, and some dairy products. I saw my doctor today and she recommended the Paleo diet. Does anyone have experience with it? Any thoughts on the diet? Experiences? Ideas? I understand the gist of it - basically veg, fruit, and meats make up the majority of the food you eat. My doctor's concern is with me wanting to lose weight, many gluten free products are much higher in fat and calories and I might end up sidelining myself. I'd just like to hear from some people who've gone through it and love, or hate, it.
Thanks!

Not all that familiar with it but I am GF due to a sensitivity to it ( i have hashimotos~ an auto immune thyroid disorder). I have quinoa and risotto if I feel i need a grain otherwise I dont eat to much of the GF breads and stuff bc for one the are very expensive and two not all that great! After a while you wont even miss it because you will find a new love for the foods you have to eat to make you healthy! Good luck and feel well. o and i dont know how sensitive you are but you may want to try to use GF products (make-up and shampoos/cond). it's alot at first but I am slowly transitionin out my old stuff for GF products.

I took to the Paleo diet after being told that with Hashimoto's I should avoid all grain products (dairy was the first blow). So far, it's been fine and my IBS seems better.

Realistically, it's a don't eat crap diet, and more importantly, don't eat crap that's bad for you. It's actually relatively easy for me to handle personally, just make sure to actually read it and think about it. For me, I'd rather not eat GF products that aren't particularly tasty, so it works well. I don't try to "fake" bready items (except pancakes-- those are ok).
