If you can afford it, I highly suggest a keratin treatment. They are amazing! I have processed hair down to my waist and people can not believe it is in such good shape and is not my natural color. Lots of stylist run specials on Groupon for them, give it a try.0

CRAZY GOOD stuff! I use a shampoo with it as well as the oil its self after my keratin starts running out before I get a new treatment. I had (had being the key word here) a stylist who was charging me 18 bucks a bottle then I found it at rite aid for like 10.
If you like your hair straight, I really urge you to look into keratin treatments. Not the brazilian bow out kind, but a straight up keratin treatment with good product. Its probably going to cost you around 200 bucks but totally worth every penny. Mine lasts about 5 months.0 -
I have naturally curly hair and I alternate between weekly protein (mayonnaise/egg) and moisturizing (coconut oil/honey) deep conditioning. I simply mix the ingredients, apply to my hair and cover with a plastic cap for anywhere from 15 mins to overnight depending on my needs. Then, I rinse and shampoo afterwards followed by a leave-in conditioner (I use Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie) and my regular styling products. I will sometimes seal my hair for added moisture using pure Aloe Vera Gel prior to my leave-in conditioner and styling products. However, I would not suggest doing this when it is humid since curly hair draws moisture from the air already and doing so will encourage frizz. So basically, I reserve that for when it is dry and cold (in the winter).
Love it, thanks!
You're very welcome!0 -
I have naturally curly hair. I love a Keratine Brazilian Blowout every 4 months or so. The treatment leaves my hair silky smooth, frizz free, and loosens up my tight curls into beach waves. You can do this at home with Organix Brazilian treatment products, which work great as well.
Invest in a diffuser is you blow dry your curls regularly.
Use a leave in conditioner. My favorite is Its A Ten Miracle Leave In Conditioner.
Treat yourself to a deep conditioning treatment very so often. Can't afford the salon? Use this great at home recipe!!
Super Duper Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment for Damaged Hair
Ingredients:
Yield:
2 Treatments
1 cup mayonnaise (room temperature if possible, like from a jar of brand new mayo just off the grocery store shelf)
1/2 cup olive oil
3 egg yolks
Directions:
1
Blend all ingredients together in a bowl.
2
* If possible use room temperature mayo - if not, let mixture warm up to room temperature*. **If you are in a rush and just can't wait - microwave the mayo for 15 seconds - but be careful - if you nuke it too long it begins to separate**.
3
Apply thoroughly through your hair adding extra at the ends.
4
Pile on top of your head and cover with a plastic shower cap and then cover with a towel to keep in the heat from your head.
5
Leave on for at least 10-20 minutes and then rinse out.
6
Should make 1 to 2 hair treatments depending on the length of your hair.
7
If you don't want to save the left over for another treatment use whatever is left over as a moisturizing face mask. Also can be used on dry elbow and knees (for best results, this should be used immediately after making and not saved. It will still work, but won't be as effective as when it's fresh).
8
Do NOT shampoo afterwards, just rinse it really well. Do this on a day when you are not going to go out. Any oil that clings to your hair after you rinse it out, will continue to condition your hair until the next time you shampoo it out.
9
*** for best hair conditioning purposes, use immediately after making without refrigerating first. The reason is, the fats and oil will penetrate your hair follicles better if it is not cold. Tip to remember for all hair care: Warm/Hot opens the hair follicles so that conditioner can penetrate deeper. And cold water closes the hair follicles. So after you shower your hair, after you rinse every thing out, rinse again with a blast of very cold water. The coldest you can possibly stand. This cold water blast will also make your hair super shiny!***.0 -
Bumping for ideas! I've got naturally REALLY curly hair x
I wish mine was either curly or wavy but its both :grumble:
I'm naughty tho and straighten it every day, I found a shampoo & conditioner with morroccan oil in, they are £10 each (managed to get my half price at the local chemist) I think I'll try the mayo and olive oil treatment! I'll be going abroad in 7 weeks and won't be straightening my hair then so I need to practise styling and looking after my curls, it's been so long I think I've forgotten what to do lol x0 -
Use a bit of leave-in conditioner. Over this, a tiny bit of anti-frizz serum. Use a diffuser to dry & set the curl. Light hair spray to finish.
When I straighten, I do the same first two steps. Let it air dry. Use more of the anti-frizz & then use my expensive straightening iron... This works well. When I straighten I go days without washing... Which allows natural oils to collect. Damage control.0 -
Awesome advice, thanks guys!0
