Edit: title supposed to be losing*
Hi everybody!
I think petite women have it a little different when it comes to losing weight (based on recent articles I've read), and I only have about 4 more pounds to lose, but these 4 pounds are hard to get off!!
I have been generally staying below my calorie limit, with a cheat day every so often, and I have a good cardio and yoga routine.
So, I guess I'm just looking for any tips have helped you!
Thanks!

I'm in the same rut as you. I'm actually trying yoga this week, if my dad can do yoga than so can I!! Try changing your routine. Zumba is high impact cardio, depending on your body type you can loose 700-1000 calories.0

since it's 80% diet and 20% exercise, why don't try eating primal for a week? It's just high protein/low carbs- not that difficult. Look at my diary and google mark's daily apple/ the primal blueprint.
ex. You like oatmeal? try quick oats w/cinnamon and blueberries instead. You can have eggs/bacon- just no bread(Ezekial bread is ok) and no juice. You can have a little fruit, alot of veggies. Also- nuts, eggs, meat, fish. dairy-You substitute almond milk for regular and you can have cheese/greek plain yogurt (add cinnamon!). Drink a protein shake everyday if you want. They are delicious. And you can have dark chocolate.
I lost the last 10lbs doing that. Don't exercise yourself to death- I did that for years. You see all these 40-50 yrs olds (myself included) going to the gym 5 days a week and not losing weight. You have to eat differently0 -
yeah, i think i need to switch things up and do some exercises that burn more calories...thanks for the reply!0

Thanks! yeah, I don't want to get to the point where I am miserable exercising constantly!! i will look at your diary..thanks again0
-
tbh, i'm less miserable eating high protein/low-carb than on calorie restriction.
it's really worth a shot!0 -
Your boby will fight to keep those last stores of fat try to think of ways to rev your engine up (speed your matablism up) eat 5 small meals aday do super hi intensity workouts look up guriller (as in big ape.bad spelling)cardio.Try useing flax seed oil.
The last few pounds are the hardest to shift if you really want to sculpt your body you have to think cleaver.if you count caloies try and slightly change the amounts you have every 3-4 days this will keep your brain from releasing starvation" alarm" hormones.
Many woman shy away from weights thinking there gonna turn into a female Arnie this will never happen (these female beefcakes you see in mags are taking steroids) doing high intensity cardio and weights are benifitial because you carry on burning loads of calories after youve finished your basically getting more bang for you buck.
Sounds like youve done alot of hard work give it the final push.good luck.Simon0 -
Patience is the only tip I have. Well, and perseverance. And ok, a third! If it's not coming off but your body is changing, that just might be how it happens, which is probably the better outcome anyway.0

That doesnt sound very primal to me0 -
Low carbs should get you there0

There is no magic to it. It still comes down to calories in, calories out, whichever way you choose to do ot.0

The last 3 pounds took me about 3 months to lose. Maybe if I cut out carbs I could have lost it sooner, but I don't want to feel restricted.
ETA - I am 5ft and small boned.0 -
eat eat eat! Don't let your body think it's starving--fuel it! The last 5 pounds melted off me--because I ate! A lot! Good foods of course but I made sure my body knew it was okay to let go of the last few pounds.0

I really feel your pain. I am 4 foot 11 and at my heaviest 148 pounds. People would ask me how far along pregnant I was!! 148 doesn't seem like much to a taller person but it made me look stocky, chubby and pregnant. I am around 140 now and my goal is to get to 125. It has been really difficult.0

I'm sorry I only came in because I expected to see a bunch of petite women melting.0

I agree! I have more than 4lbs left to lose, but I'm petite, and every pound shows on us short folks. I have about 15-20 left to go, but the first 15 came off very slowly. It has taken me a year to lose 15lbs. Most people would be annoyed by only losing a pound a month, or going a few months without losing anything, but that's the way it is for me. I could probably lose it faster, but then I'd just gain it back, and that's a waste of time.
Just stay the course!0 -
I'm 4'11 and don't have any tips, but have been working (with varying degrees of focus) on the last 10-15 lbs for about 3 years now...0
-
I changed up my routine to lose the last several lbs. Went from a cardio routine to doing the 30DS with my cardio. This made a big difference for me & carried me to my goal weight.0

Make sure you are disciplined and have strict goals. We all have our cravings but you can substitute for that with healthiest things. For example, yoplait light has flavors like red velvet cake, strawberry shortcake and key lime pie. They taste amazing and they're only 100 calories. Just make sure you exercise and change your diet.0

I'm petite looking to lose the last few, please do add me!0

Personally, this is what I used to shift weight and re-shape my body (the later is stll any ongoing process but lost the last 2kg that wouldn't budge):
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/477666-eating-for-future-you-method
Its essentially a method where you'll probably be eating more cals than what you are now, with the idea being that you average out the time you'll spend exercising across the week and eliminate eating back your cals.
Seeing as I hated eating backcals, this was perfect for me, however everyone to their own.
There's a link to a spreadsheet version which might make more sense on the group's home page.0 -

How not?
Primal allows some grains like steel cut oats and also allows organic dairy. Primal and Paleo are not the same thing.0 -
Hi girsl!! I'm a petite trying to loose the last 5 pounds..it's been so hard! But with commitment and motivation we can do it!! Feel free to add me!!0

Same here! I'm 5ft and have 5, maybe 7 lbs left to go. I really recemend the 'petite advantage Diet'- not for the actual diet (as i'm paleo) but for the tips.0

I totally feel you! SW: 130 CW:118 GW: 110
Looking to share food logs with other petite ladies. I'm 5'2 trying to manage a 1200 calorie goal. I recently plateaued and realized that I wasn't eating enough calories considering I exercise 4-5 times a week. I've upped my calories and have started losing weight again.
Also started blogging healthy recipe ideas at www.petitehealth.com. Please add me as a friend if you'd like to share food diaries/motivation. Thanks!0 -

Based on what you said I'd think about cutting that cheat day out, or making it just a cheat meal. You could be completely wiping out your deficit with your cheat day, depending on how often/ how much you eat on that day. At this point I'd start working on your body composition, either lift weights or do resistance work.0
