Before you fall for the eating more to lose blah blah, you might want to check out what the Mayo Clinic has to say about plateaus!

    Check out this link,

    http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss-plateau/MY01152

Sure sounds like a great way to lose weight to eat more, but lots of times when something doesn't make sense there is a good reason why it doesn't. Just my 2 cents,

    Best of luck

Even the Mayo Clinic has a calculator that will show you both that 1200 calories is too little, especially for males! Your body actually needs calories in order to function. Yes, we have to eat at a deficit to lose, but going from one extreme to the other isn't healthy. Use their calculator, I'm positive it will tell you to eat more calories: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculator/NU00598 .

TDEE is Total Daily Energy Expenditure. You should know two numbers: BMR and TDEE. BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the number of calories your body needs just to exist. TDEE is the amount your body needs to do it's normal day-to-day activities, such as walking around, exercising, and the rest of your normal routine. You want to eat more than your BMR (so your body has enough fuel) but less than your TDEE.

Use a calculator like the one on this site: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ . That will provide you with both numbers, as well as your TDEE minus 15-20%. Eat that, every day, whether you work out or not as you've already chosen how often you exercise.

I'll try it. I like how I'm looking, but yes, the last 30 days or so, I have been "cheating" by (for example) making sure I eat the extra calories I get by exercise - often stuff like bread or nachos instead of going to bed with a deficient. e.g. yesterday I biked 800 calories worht, so then by the time I went to bed I had eaten a total of near 2100 calories (as opposed to reccomended around 1300)
