I started my weight loss journey in Augest of 2008. I weighed in at my weight watchers meeting at 215pds. I stoped going to the meeting because of time restraints. I thought I would replace them with time working out. Needless to say I did not keep up with that. In Febuary I start mfp and was doing so good. I was loosing weight but most important I felt fit. I was training for a 5k! In May things got a little busy so I had cut back a little still tracking my food most the time. Then in Augest I started school again (working on my Prerequisite for nursing). I am a single mom that works full time goes to school more then part time and am mommy of a busy five yr old the rest of the time. I am a receptionist at work so I sit down ALOT :frown: I usualy walk during my lunch but live in Utah and it is starting to get realy cold and I am discouraged. I eat healthy but I over eat aspecialy at night. I got down to 182 and in 6 mnths have gotten up to 189. I need tough love some incouragment please. I know I have made excuses and I need some brutal honesty to help me out here. I

You need to stop being so hard on yourself.... You have a busy life, but can find time to eat right and exercise. Your 5 year old needs you too......
Write out every reason you want to loss the weight and then post it near your snacks and foods you eat at night... Also make a list of all the things you can do instead of eating.... Post that too!!! I find it helps.
When you feel the cravings coming, stop, take a deep breath, ask yourself if your really hungry, bored, tired, or feeling an emotion(sad happy angry etc).. if you are not hungry find out what you really need and feed that, not your stomach....
Hope this helps you a little...
I'll pray for you0 -
You have determined you overeat at night. What drives that? Is it boredom? Is it that you have junk food in the house? Figure out what triggers your eating. Work on eliminating your reaction -- the overeating. Stress will always exist. It's about learning how to manage your life with those stressors.
You are a full time worker, a part time student, and a super full time mommy of a busy 5 year old. There is nothing you can do to "eliminate stress'. Instead, you have got to find what works for you, what you can manage to help yourself along this journey.
Personally, if I have junk food in the house, I overeat at night. I don't keep a lot of bad foods, and even knowing the junk food isn't there, I will roam the kitchen at nights, looking for something to fill my cravings!! Unbelievable! I KNOW THE JUNK FOOD ISN'T THERE BUT I STILL LOOK FOR IT. It's programmed within me, I swear. But not having the food means I don't eat that food. That is what works for me. Everyone is different.
I'm glad you posted. Keep positive. You can do this. You are still down 26 lbs from where you started!! That is a great start, so build back up the momentum to lose the rest of the weight you desire!! Set backs are only failures if you don't get back up!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Make sure you get up and stretch out every 30m or so at work. Even go for a quick 5 minute walk up some steps or something. But no less then a good stretch of the muscles and body every 30 minutes. Sitting for prolonged periods of time like at work very well may down regulate the enzyme responsible for the break down of triacylglycerols into free fatty acids and glycerol, which can enter cells for storage or energy production.
Its ok to eat at night, but you have to do it right. If night time is a time you seem to prefer eating "more" eat a little less at some of your earlier meals in the day and hold over some extra cals so you can afford to eat a little extra at night without the guilt. And of course make sure what you are eating is the right food choices. If you do those 2 things you can stay on track with your goals and enjoy a nice but "controlled" night time meal.0 -
I have a couple of things that help me with the eating at night thing.
1. have a cut-off time- for example- no food after 9pm. Your cut-off time should be at least 2 hours before bedtime.
2. Allow for a treat every now and then, a low-fat, low-cal treat a couple of times a week is ok, just make sure you "save" up the calories for it - eat really good all day, and you'll find them in there.
3. I also brush my teeth at cut-off time. this can help too, it's your signal you're done eating for the day.
4. don't beat yourself up, you can do this, it's a learning curve! Stick with it, and you'll meet your goals. Good luck with school!0
