Hi ladies! I'm looking for a little input on this matter...My second son was born 13 mos ago, and when he was around 3 months old I decided to get the Mirena IUD....after I recovered from the initial placement of it, I really liked it...only a few days of spotting every month or 2...until I began trying to get fit. My problem area, like most moms, is my tummy..but I've noticed a pattern...everytime I do excersices focusing on this area I get cramps and start spotting... Also, although I have lost a fair deal of weight...its not in my tummy...I am still looking like I'm about 5mos preg ...I've even had ppl ask if I'm expecting within this month =( So hurtful when you're really trying to get fit! I also spot and get cramps after sex which is really a pain...I have had one ultrasound a few mos ago and they said my IUD was in the right spot, but I'm going again today to see what's up.....has anyone experienced anything like this???

I have had a Mirena since April 2010. I have no problems with cramping during exercise or spotting after. The tummy part, well mines significantly shrunk since I started running. I did have 2 c-sections so I don't know if it will completely flatten out.0

hmmm...Idk..when you're talking birth control and anything hormone related..I guess everyone is going to have a different reaction..but I am starting to wonder if my body is just telling me it doesn't like this thing.. I have decided I'm not having anymore children, but I was going to wait until the 5 years were up with the IUD for either the hubby or I to get something permanent done..now I am thinking that may be sooner.....0

This was my train of thought when I decided to get the mirana IUD just over a year ago as well. I haven't had any of the symptoms that you are discribing (and I do longs runs and a great deal of weight training), not have I hear of others having to deal with this; I also have at least half a dozen other friends using the same. Definately talk to your Dr again . . . of course peoples bodies are going to react differently to a foreign object placed in the body, but you have to be comfortable, and health definately comes first. Side note, I have also used the nuva ring, also liked it. Good luck.0
