They say that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect different results. With that in mind, I’m wondering what those of you that have been down the dieting path before are doing differently THIS time to make sure it really works?

Absolutely! I am just sticking to things that i know i can do! I have tried and failed soo many times to get my body back, but this time just feels different because i'm not stressing over every single thing!0

I've realized that this is not a "6 month goal" a "year goal" or "a goal weight". Instead it's something that I plan on maintaining forever. I have no intention of hitting a numerical goal and then going back to old habits. I've completely changed the way I think about food and my activity in general.0

I suppose I should chime in as well! For me it's three things. One is actually tracking my calories here. In the past, I relied on whatever fad diet I was doing to drive the lowered calories, but didn't actually worry too much about the calorie intake. I always resisted tracking calories because I thought it would be too big a pain. Thankfully I'm finding that with MFP, it's not hard at all!
Two, I found someone at work (not in my chain of command, but nonetheless higher up in the organization than me), to be accountable to. I feel like if I were to fail, or even go off plan, he's going to kick me back in gear. In fact, just having to report to him how I did the previous week on my diet and exercise is pretty darn motivating!
Three is not trying to change EVERYTHING at once. I have a bad habit of trying to completely change my diet from junk to healthy, start a rigorous exercise program, etc. I'm finding that progress, not perfection is the key. I will eventually be eating much better, eventually be exercising much more, but for now, I'm content to make just a few small, but critical changes.0
