Lord have Mercy, by Robin Mark.

It always reminds me that man, in his fallen state, is not good enough to please the Lord without salvation, no matter how hard we try, and that God always has maercy for his children.

Above all, by Michael w. Smith
this reminds me of how JEsus Christ humbled himself and became sin for the entire human race, and how I should not live for myself, but for the one who died to give me life.

Pirates of the Carribean theme, by klaus badelt

this humbles me because when I try to play it on piano imake it unrecognizeably horrible. and it makes me realize I am not as great a muscian as i thought i was. :)

    "Above All" Michael W. Smith
"How Deep the Father's Love for us" Selah
"You Loved me Anyway" Sidewalk Prophets

It's humbling to think of that type of love and sacrifice being poured out for me.

"Jesus, Friend of Sinners" by Casting Crowns

This hits me hard every time. I can always think of a snap judgement I made about someone based on outward appearances or life cirmcumstances, and I know that's not how we were taught to live and love.

    "Go Rest High"

This just reminds me of a good friend that we lost too soon, and this was fittingly played at his funeral. He struggled with schizophrenia his entire adult life and he knew all too well what it was like to "face the demons", it was almost a happy good bye knowing he was finally rid of that affliction.

Jesus, Friend of Sinners" by Casting Crowns is one of my favorite songs.

"Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw.

The first time I heard it was about a week after my Stepmom passed from cancer. About 3 years later I was having this weird problem with my vision only in my left eye and the doctor's couldnt figure out why. I left the 3rd doctor's office I had been to in two months and had just heard scary words like "blood clot", "aneurysm", "stroke"and "brain tumor". So I left there feeling like I had a time bomb in my head. That song came on the radio when I was driving home. I started crying so hard I had to pull over. It really made me think if this is the real end have I lived my life right? What will I be remembered for? Am I a good mom/friend? I forgave my sister. I spend more time with family and friends even when it's an inconvenience. I go out of my way to help strangers. I have more patience with everyone I come in contact with.
The eye thing ended up being optic neuritis, inflammation of the optic nerve caused by multiple sclerosis. I'll tell you what, when that doctor told me it was MS, my first response was "Thats it? I'm not going to die?" I almost danced a jig around his office. He was stunned. :) But, I never forgot that moment and I never forgot that song. Five years later it still makes me cry.

"Walk a little strighter Daddy" - because I've been there
"Concrete Angel" - because I never want anyone to have to be there
"Dare you to Move" - Because it motivates me to be better, to keep moving
"Don't take the girl" - because I believe in true love.

    all 4 make me cry.
  • The traditional "Amazing Grace" chokes me up ever time I hear or try to sing it. It was one of my family's favorite songs. My parents passed away in 1999 and my baby brother passed September 2011.

The Birthday Massacre- In the Dark (Posting lyrics because I rarely run into anyone who actually knows who this awesome band is lol. All there music is awesome, but this one reminds me of my ex =)

All these broken pieces left unglued
Should never find their way into
the hands of someone like you

    I'm in the dark
    I'm alone around you
    I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through
    Oh, I'm in the dark

Every minute shared is never mine
Frozen in this fog and hiding every second in time

    I'm in the dark
    I'm alone around you
    I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through
    Oh, I'm in the dark

I'm losing my faith in every way
    That points to you, Oh
    I'm in the dark
    I'm alone around you, Oh
    I'm in the dark

    The more bleak the day
The less I behave as if
    Everything black can wash away
Oh can I just trade a dream for a way
To peel back the shade behind the grey?

    I'm in the dark
    I'm alone around you
    I've never been here before
Nobody here to get me through
    Oh, I'm in the dark

Breaking Your Own Heart - Kelly Clarkson

My daughter was the one who told me to listen to this song and said it reminded her of me. It made me see myself through her eyes and it changed me for the better.

I'm a classical singer so anything by Bach (particularly his concerto for two violins) or Tchaikovsky's Serenade for strings will really get me. It's the knowledge that there have been human beings in the world with an artistry so brilliant, it's the closest thing to "god" I am able to experience.

The Birthday Massacre- Looking Glass (also reminds me of my ex...)

    Waiting as I'm wanting to
    Speaking as I'm spoken to
Changing to your point of view
    Fading as I follow you

A boyish notion of false emotion
These words are spoken despite my love
A fool's devotion was set in motion
    My eyes are open now

    It's a glass cage so I can't pretend
    You hide beneath the physical
    I see it coming
    But I can't defend
    You cut so deep
    My belief is gone
    My belief is gone
    My belief is...

Tell me what I want to say
    Save me for another day
Break me, it's the game you play
Hate me as I turn away

A boyish notion of false emotion
These words are spoken despite my love
A fool's devotion was set in motion
    My eyes are open now

    It's a glass cage so I can't pretend
    You hide beneath the physical
    I see it coming
    But I can't defend
    You cut so deep
    My belief is gone
    My belief is gone
    My belief is gone
    My belief is gone
    My belief is...

    It's a glass cage so I can't pretend
    You hide beneath the physical
    I see it coming
    But I can't defend
    You cut so deep
    My belief is gone

    My belief is gone
    My belief is gone

    There are a few...

Mike & the Mechanics - The Living Years
Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father (I know it's cheesy!)
    Coldplay - Fix You
Etta James - At Last, it was my wedding song so it has so many happy memories
Amazing Grace, there's something about that song that gets me, especially if it's sung acapella. Just beautiful!

"Funeral" by Saves the Day (I was listening to it yesterday morning and got SO teary eyed!)

Aww me too! Reminds me of a person gone too soon, and of years spent driving around the great state of NJ to go see all my favorite bands play VFW halls
