logging bad days

when you are having a day...and I mean not a great one, do you log your food? If so, does it make it better or worse?

on nights i go out, i often will fail to log dinner and drinks. but, i always wish i had when i look back, so i try my best to remember to do so.0

I log every day. I logged on paper before I joined here. I don't look back at past entries, am not obsessed, but entering makes me accountable. I also don't have that thing that flashes up how many days I've been on because I don't really care. It's not have I been doing it, it's am I going to keep doing it. And I am. I like the new, improved model :bigsmile: .0

Not to sound holier-than-thou, but I find that I don't really have many bad days since I log all through the day, which keeps me accountable and on track. Not to say I haven't gone over a bit on a few days, but I made the choice to do so knowing exactly how many calories over it would take me and was willing to do so knowing I was at or under goal most days. If I didn't log on "bad" days, or EVERY day, I think I could easily slide back into very mindless eating habits. HTH and good luck!0

I haven't in the past and have been unsuccessful in the past.
This time, I am - I've hit day 15 (my longest span ever). The last couple of days, it has been BAD! And I have kept logging!
When I COMPLETE my journal, and it says in 5 WEEKS, I will be 3 lbs HEAVIER - It helps me keep my eye on the prize!0 -

Yep I log them all. But I'm very lucky and do not have bad days because I refuse to eat over my limits because I hate losing lbs over again....Today is a rough day for me. After not feeling hungry yesterday, today that's all I feel. Oh well I will get thru it with the help of Zumba and the gym today. :happy:0

I always try to log everything. The bad days make me feel bad of course, but I just forgive myself and move on to try better the next day. By logging the bad days, I feel better about the good days!
Right now I'm in a rut because I usually go for walks on my lunch breaks but because its been so hot this week, I haven't been able to. I personally need to get it together to work out in the morning or night in order to get back on track.
We all have our weak points, just don't give up!0 -

When I lost 50 lbs I logged 99% of the time, even when it was bad, and I found that I actually had less bad the more I logged.
Now that I'm trying to lose 15 lbs of regained weight, I've discovered that I'm really bad on the weekends. I say "discovered" because at first I wasn't logging them, kind of giving myself a break, and then when I finally did I realized WOW that is bad enough to erase all the good I did this week!
So, yes, log your bad days. Don't beat yourself up about them, but learn the lesson, and you'll start to have less bad days.0 -

If I eat it I log it!! I'll tell ya what though...knowing people can "see" my bad days I definitely think twice about what I put in my mouth!! So it actually helps!0

I log my good days and not-so-good days (and there are, unfortunately, quite a few) and I make my diary viewable to friends. I also log as I go and sometimes I will check ahead to see the nutrition information for something I'm considering eating and knowing it up front helps me make an informed decision as to whether I eat the food or not.
It hurts to be truthful sometimes, but it helps to be truthful all the time.0 -

No, MFP is only for the 'good' food days so I can look and see how well I did three days out of the month, and use that as a motivation to make it 4 or 5.... I really hate vegetables, you see.... :laugh:0

I have only not-logged once since starting and it was while I was out for dinner which we don't do often at all, so I forgave myself. I try really hard to fit my treats into my calorie limit (like today I had chocolate, and even with my whole day logged I'm still under 1220 cal) but if I must go over I work it off usually! i am taking my son out to the movies tonight and REAALYYYYY want some movie popcorn but I pre-logged it to see and it rang in at 480 CAL for a small bag. Nope. Not worth it. I will bring my own snack or something, sneaky sneaky0

Hell, yes ..... I log every single thing I can think of ...... sometimes even waking up in a sweat in the middle of the night about it ROFL ..... but honestly, seeing the "bad" is sometimes more motivating than seeing just the "good" .....

Yep. I log every day (120 days straight and counting), no matter what. Thankfully my "bad" days are very few and far between now!0

I usually don't have bad days maybe a bad meal. Yes, I log in every day. It drives my husband crazy sometimes but it holds me responsible especially the next day. I haven't missed a day logging in around 5 months. It makes me exercise too. I like those extra calories even though I usually don't eat them back.0

I have found that if I log, I can recover a bad day before I throw in the towel and give myself the license to do what I want until tomorrow, or even Monday.
So, one or two bad choices....make for a B- day....but not an F day. It has really been eye opening for me...how quick I can recover, just by actually putting it in the journal and being accountable for it.0 -
I keep the diary open, and for "bad days" I'll overestimate the calories and add them as a "Quick Add". You'll see blocks of 1000 or 2000 for that. Helps me keep the weekly totals more accurate, and it motivates me to do better the next few days.0

I recently had a couple bad days because of eating out for lunch with a buddy one day, I logged both days fully and honestly. Being dishonest isn't going to help me. It is lying to myself really. The others tht may read my diary they have no way of verifying, but I will know. I do it to hold myself accountable and so I will know the reason for my lack of progress, if I don't have any. but more than likely one day ain't gonna kill ya.0
