Just wondering...

We have fast food as an occasional treat but definitely not part of our regular diet. Even when I was big, we rarely ate out. Our favorites are subway or wendys. I like how wendy's has better side dishes to choose from. I would say we might have a treat once or twice a month.

I've brainwashed my kids into thinking the Golden Arches is poison but we get Chinese & Vietnamese takeout (a form of fast food) and will hit Subway now and again. Burgers are served at home but they come from my grill so I know what's in them!

Me too, rarely. Every once in a while my daughter will ask for a happy meal because of the toy that is being offered. Of that she will eat the chicken and apple slices with milk. She doesn't like french fries and calls soda "spicy".

When my son is old enough we will eat fast food occasionally but it will not be a daily occurrence. Additionally, it will likely be Chipotle =)

Yes. They ask for it almost every day, unfortunately, because they love it. So while we don't buy it for them frequently, we're not going to completely deny it to them either. Making something taboo is a sure way to make a person crave it even more. So we have it, but we talk often about why we don't have it all the time, and why "home food" is better than "restaurant food" (which is how they refer to fast food).

Absolutely. My spawn loves McDonald's Mango Pineapple Smoothie.
  • if i had kids, no i wouldn't as that guy said on supersize me "everytime i have kids everytime we drive past a fast food place i'm going to punch them in the face, so they know not to go there"

Yes, every now and then. But we will usually just get drinks if we are out from there

I have 4 kids with 4 various schedules....I'd say we eat fast food once a month. This week it is twice. We are having Wendys tonight because my daughter's Moving Up Day (graduation from 8th grade to high school) is tonight. Also...it's about 100 degrees here with 90% humidity and I'm NOT cooking! LOL!

Not looking forward to being in a packed gym with 2000 people and no air conditioning on a 100 degree day....but maybe I'll sweat off 20 pounds....

Not often. I showed my kids an article about fast food so they would rather eat some place healthy.

Nope, but family members have, until my son loudly announced that the chicken nuggets he had felt, looked and tasted like foam not chicken.

My daughter is an adult now but when she was young she only got fast food as an occasional treat. When we first moved to this area she was 8 years old and a lot of her new friends had fast food/takeaway for dinner 4 or 5 times a week - she thought she was deprived cos she had to have home cooked food!

Very rarely. its like a "treat" or we are running around crazy...but she makes me take off the breading on the chicken nuggets , and doesnt eat the bun with hamburgers, also gets the apples or whatever instead of fries. so we try to make it a little more healthy!

Once a week. But in all fairness, we spend two FULL days a week in my car at minimum..... and it's chicken nugget happy meals. There are far worse things to be had. And sometimes... sometimes I eat a chicken nugget happy meal, too. We do not get pop, I get water and they get milk, and the meal is 190 calories for the nuggets, 100 calories for the fries and 35 calories for the apples. Which is less than my usual "being good" 6'' sub at Subway.

I do, but it's not very often (maybe once a month unless we are traveling/on vacation). I did "treat" them to McDonalds yesterday because we were out of the house all day and they each had a cheeseburger, shared a small fries, had water to drink, and then each had 1 1/2 cookies for dessert.

My kids don't drink soda (my 8 year old has no desire to try it & there's no way I'm giving any to my 3 year old).

They both realize that it's something that isn't going to happen often and that it's not healthy (we talk about what foods are healthy for our bodies), but that sometimes we make exceptions.

Maybe once a month. At most. It's always as a treat.

Yes. My wife and I have not restricted ourselves from eating anything specific during our weight loss journeys, so it's technically fair game. If we do it's usually Chick Fil A. At least there the chicken looks like chicken. My littlest one loves the cinnamon apple pouch that you can get with the kids meal. And my 5 year old has gone back and forth between the waffle fries and the fruit cup. She doesn't get french fries otherwise, so the once-in-a-while she does get it is probably OK.

I hardly ever buy fast food for them. I don't eat it unless I have to (on a road trip) or I might do more of a Qdoba or Noodles more than a drive thru. My husband is a fast food addict so he will buy it for them if he has them and I won't be there to make them lunch/dinner. I don't love that he does that but at the same time I know if I deny it, then they will probably go crazy on it when they are older. I just have always explained it as an occasional thing, not something you would eat every week.

Maybe once a month. I don't think banning any food group is a good idea as it makes it more desirable.;-)
