*head desk slam, wait 5 min, repeat* disk swapping was the bane of my existence on my GF's first "Fat Mac" ( 512k baby)

Now cue the repetitive buzzing/honking sound that means your disk has gone bad.

bored figured I would take a trip down memory lane with computers. remember when:

all computers were slow and you had to wait minutes to connect to the internet?

you would Im someone and then get kicked off the server and have to reboot?

you would get the "blue screen of death"?

your email ended with either "@AOL.com" or @cs.com.. mine was cs?

    feel free to add more

When ADA was going to be the one and only programming language?
When a PC Portable weighed about 30 pounds and was the size of a suitcase?
    The original Ultima game?

Remember when you actually had to type in commands to open Windows boxes waaaaaay back in the day, because there wasn't a mouse?

Installing programs required 5 floppy drives, because the installation files had more memory than one floppy could hold? Took forever to get Oregon Trail going, and back then, it was all pixelated, because the graphics were so bad.

My first email address ended in @juno.com, and dial-up took at least 3 minutes to connect, and some websites wouldn't even load, because there was too much information. This one page would have taken a good 5 minute to load, and the IE would probably have crashed, haha.

I remember fondly my first computer - it was three boxes each about 5'x4'x6', a typewriter (no screen) and had 40K - yes 40,000 bytes

The printer was in another room and not connected to the computer --- much too hard to explain how it printed.

Disk drives were optional and were the size of a washing machine and held 2 million characters

I remember getting AOL 3.1, first 90 hours free and still getting a $300 bill at the end of the first month. My parents were pissed.
