I have never been a dancer or was involved in sports growing up but as I am getting older I have this desire to be more flexible with my body like it would be soooo awsome if i could do a split or do a cool trick like the athletic pole dancers do. I am 26 years old is it possible for me to gain that kind of flexiblity at this age??

I think anyone at any age can retrain their bodies to be more flexible if they're willing to work at it.

I was going to say . . . something else . . . but yes, yoga will help quite a bit. I was a dancer while growing up and all through high school and have since lost a lot of my flexibility. The yoga has many benefits other than helping with flexibility. You should give it a try.

You might check into taking a bellydance class.
