Is MFP changing your goal look?

I know that when I started this almost 2 years ago, I had a faint idea of what I wanted to look like. I wanted to be smaller and hot.
Since then my goal is now muscular, strong and hot. Before you would ask me if muscular was something I wanted and the answer would have been a strong no.
Did your goal changed by MFP?

Totally. I wanted to be skinny and athletic, but I had no idea what it took to get there. MFP got me into lifting more, which ended up changing my goal to be more muscular and lean than just skinny.0

Yup. Absolutely. I wanted to be thin. Only way I could be thin is if you held a photograph of me sideways. I want to be fit, muscular and strong. I find that hot as all hell now.0

I didn't have set goals. I wanted to get back to where I had been and I am now 2 lbs away from that. I have since decided that lifting is incredible and I want to be strong. If I end up sexy, that's icing.0

I wouldn't say it was MFP that changed what I want to look like, but when I first went on a diet 5 years ago, all i knew was that I wanted to be skinny.
Now I'm all about getting to that lean, muscular look. I first discovered lifting about 2 years ago and I loved how it gradually started to change my body!0 -
Nope, but my outlook on females has changed the more I've gotten into fitness and nutrition in general. I tended to go for scrawny chicks in the past and now prefer fit and defined. Keep lifting, ladies!0
-
I was totally the same way, skinny. Now I want to lose weight but also be really toned!0
-
Big time! My goals have changed, because I always want to reach for something higher.0
-
Nope. My main goal has always been to be healthier. I've always had a good idea of what my body was capable of and what it would look like. I've never been skinny, it's not something my body can do. I've known for a long time that I have an hourglass figure and big, muscular legs. I came to terms with that in my late-teens. So, my goal from the start has been on improving overall body composition and lowering my body fat percentage.0

I wouldn't say MFP changed my outlook on myself. Thin and somewhat muscular for my frame size has always been my goal...and really been what has been seen as fit for men for a long time.
My personal goal as to what that thin weight is have definitely changed a few times, driving myself lighter and lighter as I reach goal after goal.
What I do like seeing is the constant interaction on MFP has changed the concept that skinny as a rail is a preferred look for women. Really glad to see more women realizing a strong, athletic body is so much better than the waif like look.0 -
I guess I've stopped wanting to be skinny and started wanting to be slimmer instead. I mean I'd love to be skinny but I do love my curves, 11 inch difference between my hips and waist means I'm always going to be curvy no matter what my weight is and I'm embracing that, I want to lose some excess fat off my hips and thighs which have always been my problem area and work on making my tummy a bit flatter. I think all you ladies who lift look fantastic but I don't want to be muscular myself, I just know it's not for me.0
-
Yes, it definitely did. As several previous posters said, I thought I just wanted to be skinny. Now, I want to be muscular and strong! Never thought about lifting until I got onto these forums.0
-
Not really. I've always wanted to be what my goal is. Trim and muscled. I was always able to pull off Skinny-fat, but I never wanted to BE that. After making it to fat-fat and realizing there was a problem and I just wasn't making it on my own, I signed up for MFP and I am so very VERY glad that I did. MFP has shown me how to get there. Given me tons of tips and more motivation than I've had in the past though. Hopefully by this time next year (it will be my second year on a "better me" journey) I will have met that goal and be into maintenance. :drinker:0

My goal is to be the most awesome version of me!!! Not skinny, not muscular....healthy, lean and fit is what I'm aiming to be!0
-
Yup!! For me though, I just wanted to be 175 (down from 211ish), I thought that would be a nice, comfortable weight and hardly imagined I'd actually achieve it. Now I'm here and am like...wow I have a long way to go! I have a lot more fat to lose and want to be much more defined. My new goal is 160 but I might end up wanting/needing to go less to achieve the look I have in mind.0
-
Definitely. When I first started this 2 years ago, I only cared about being thinner. I didn't care about looking or being healthy. Now I actually do. I've always been a weakling and was totally fine with that. Now, I'm strong and I feel like a bad*kitten*. I like the new me.0

My goal is,of course. to lose weight --but--the outome has been lower blood pressure and 4.75 inches off my waist!!! Even though the hips are smaller I am still wearing the same pants-but I need a belt to hold them up. I have bought some new clothes and they are small and medium bottoms instead of large/xl.
So, excuse the rambling, I guess my Goal has changed!! My goal is to be healthy and fit!!!!0 -
YEP!!! When I started I wanted to be skinny, thin, like model-thin. Now, I love that I am getting some muscles. I wanna look strong, fit, and tight. This site is a great place to gather information.....0
-
Definitely. My goal look before was to be thin like I was in 10th grade. While I'd still like to have that, I'd rather be fit like I was while I was in soccer. But, I'd like to be more fit than then becaues I want some sort of defined ab muscles, I want to have strength and endurance. I also don't care as much about the weight on the scale as long as I'm seeing results through pictures or measurements. I used to want t be 125lbs, but now I don't care how much I weigh as long as I feel good and look even better!0

I do MFP for about 3 weeks and it changed my goals too -
I still wanna be muscled and hot - but not in "as fast as possible" anymore - healthy was added, too.
And to all the girls out there that think "skinny" is good .. always remember:
- real men love meat (curves), only dogs love bones
and I mean that0 -
Yes...When I started MFP my goal was to slim down..I thought if I lost weight I'd be healthier. Now I'm more serious about being healthier. I'm eating more and eating healthier foods. I don't want people to look at me and say "look at how skinny she is" anymore.. I can happily say I want people to look at me and notice how much muscle I have. I want them to see how healthy I am.
I never thought I'd want to be more muscular...buttttt I do and I love that!
Strong>Skinny0 -

this!0 -
Definitely. When I came here I just wanted to be within my "healthy weight range" according to my BMI, but now I realise that I may never fall within that range because I've started lifting weights. My weight is going down far more slowly, but I'm still shrinking. I have a body shape/size and fitness/strength goal rather than a weight goal now. Obviously, it would be lovely to get down to 10.5 stones, but if I even sit around 11 stones with a fit, strong, healthy body with great muscle definition, I will be absolutely delighted!0
-
A little. I knew coming in that I wanted a little muscle definition, now I'm not concerned with having a little more. MFP has given me better access to information and people on how to achieve it. I would have wasted a lot of time on things that didn't work and probably would have given up by now.0
-
I never thought about this till now, but YES, it definitely is. I now have a much clearer idea of what my "goal" is- though the picture isn't perfectly clear yet (it gets clearer the closer I get to it). Before, I just wanted a magic "healthy" BMI. After being on MFP, fitness and health is so much more about a BMI. Now, I'm striving to still be within that healthy range, but with a healthy cardio level and a firm body to go with it!0
-
Yes, it definitely has changed my goals. I initially joined trying to get off this baby weight and get back to 160. But now I crave muscle and definition and I realize that it will take more work and I may weigh slightly more than that due to muscle mass. And I am completely okay with that :bigsmile:0
-
No, not really. I've always liked the fit, muscular look, but now, I know what it takes to achieve the look.0
-
100% Yes0

I started almost 2 years ago and had a goal in my mind to lose 40 kgs.
Now I'm almost at my goal date, but have "only" lost 25 kgs.
I started working out with a personal trainer in January last year, and THAT changed my goal. I now have a body image I'd like to reach, and I'm not fixed on a number at the scale anymore.0 -
Well, yes and no. I had a six-pack back in high school and college, and my goal is to get back to that level of fitness. MFP didn't change that. What it DID change is the confidence that I have that I can actually REACH that.
It also prompted me to take a hard look at my "goal weight", and to realize that I won't have a six-pack at 140 pounds. I changed my goal weight to 135, and am thinking that I might have to go a bit lower, even. But, I want to make sure that I'm honoring my current 36-year-old body, and not trying to make it fit into the 20-year-old version of myself. I've had a baby since then - things are going to be different. So, once I start approaching my goal weight, I'll look at it again and see what makes sense.
That's one other thing that MFP has helped me understand - my goal can change!
Anyway, great topic!0
